But yes the joystick works with the andriod interface but, does not work with apple carplay, the screen is touch screen so its not the worst. The installation was very easy, i found the cables that needed to go to the top of the screen, placed electrical tape around them all and slide them to the top.

Heres some of my biggest annoyances with the system:

-I use bluetooth instead of the carplay audio cause I think it doesnt sound so good through the AUX. The down fall of this is that the navigation apps dont do the directions unless i switch back to AUX.
-The rear camera instead of it being instant there is like a 2-4 second delay
-The system takes over 15 seconds to boot up when first powering on
-I sometimes have to wait until the system is on to connect my phone or else the carplay app wont start up
Does anyone with the 4x4 system experience any of these annoyances?

Don't think I can deal with those annoyances especially not working with factory joystick for Carplay. Oh well I guess I'll live without Carplay or trade in my car that has one. lol

I have the 4x4 unit which really is the same thing. What I do is I play music through BT to the factory oem stereo and boot up CarPlay on the android side and I just have to change the audio output on my iPhone to the factory unit. This allows me to listen to everything through the good solid oem BT connection, but still use CarPlay like normal. It is a little bit of a hassle but it's honestly just a 1st world problem. There is going to be a price to pay for aftermarket since Lexus decided they weren't ever going to put Apple CarPlay on the 3IS. I don't have the backup camera delay. The android side does take a little bit to boot up, but I'm normally on the Lexus side which is instant same as when you have the factory screen. I understand people feel some type of way of paying for a unit and it not being seamless, but all things considered it's the best you can get if you really want CarPlay with a big touchscreen and it does give you many features.

same. I really want CarPlay but I don’t want to add an extra mic or use aftermarket displays, I am really only willing to make the plunge if it’s as easy and integrated to use as Bluetooth is from the factory.

Here is a photo beatsonic posted with the system installed inside of an IS. Not sure if it is the phones quality but the screen resolution for the CarPlay isn't looking too hot.

I got the Beat-Sonic CarPlay installed yesterday by Beat-Sonic and it’s pretty awesome. I like that it looks completely OEM and runs smoothly. There are external mics (uses oem) or no screen cut-offs when you adjust the ac temp. The only con is your phone has to be plugged into usb for CarPlay to work.

Ugh I would love to keep everything OEM but those disgusting huge bezels KILL me, which makes the 4x4 option much more enticing. Do you have the larger display?

I have 2015 IS so the OEM screen is small. It may look better on the 2017 + models because the OEM screens are larger ... I don’t plan to upgrade.

Do you have to switch to AUX in order to see Carplay screen and audio? Which means you cannot listen to factory radio while in Carplay.

Yes has to be in AUX mode and radio does not work.

Can you use bluetooth and carplay at the same time? How is the audio quality?

Did you mean "there aren't" pertaining to external mics?

Bluetooth works but the phone needs to be plugged into usb for CarPlay to work. Audio quality sounds fine with the ML speakers.

Excuse my grammar... Beat-Sonic previous model used an external mic for calls and Siri to work. The new revised product uses the OEM mic.
