Will there be a scenario whereby apple's IOS gets updated to a point that renders beatsonic's hardware obsolete and need a firmware update? Will such firmware be available to us?

If there is a point where beatsonics hardware is obsolete then a lot of older vehicles will also need an update as well. Plus apple car play/android auto is just a display to run the actual software that sits on the phone. I have emailed them about IOS 13 and they stated it was working without any issues. Also they have done custom modifications to their version of the box compared to nv connects. So if a software update is needed I believe it can be installed probably via USB.

It’s awesome that they are doing this, but it’s about double what I’d be willing to pay for CarPlay. Especially considering it is wired.

There are lots of caveats with this device. Bluetooth can’t be used and they suggest to turn off because all audio comes through aux input otherwise audio sound will be heard from both. And it doesn’t look like you will be able to listen to car’s radio while running CarPlay menu. I’d definitely wait for user reviews before buying one.

Looking at the demos for other models, if you select radio before entering carplay/android auto mode it will keep that audio, switching to aux give you audio from CP/AA

Not sure why anyone would want to listen to low bitrate FM radio when you have the option of pandora / spotify on android auto / carplay which is MUCH higher quality than XM or FM radio... JMHO....

I bought this unit from eBay it’s also wireless CarPlay. I’m not sure it comes with Android OS but I don’t really care for it. My main goal is to get CarPlay and wireless is option so if it actually works, great. I think Beatsonic unit is a bit overpriced there are lots of other units that does the same. If you search on Aliexpress there are a few options. I’ll update this thread once I got it working.

I listen to radio just for some talk show in the morning I don’t listen for Audio experience but HD Radio stations actually sound pretty good to my ears.
