This is how I can use my carplay with my andriod unit, without the Bluetooth. And Im no sound Guru but it doesn't sound as clear to be honest.

 

This is what I was afraid of. I'm a pretty big stickler about audio quality as I am a music producer. UGH I wish Lexus would just push an update for our vehicles.

 

Now on their latest update, they did say bluetooth can still be paired with the device so it could be 50/50. One thing I noticed is apps like google maps and apple maps wont start saying the directions unless you switch back to USB connection. So ive been listening to the music via USB to get a custom to the quality lol.

 

I bought the ali express unit from one of the members in the other forum that bought both. (the other being from 4X4 shop). Everything has been working fine and for the extra 150 bucks(500 beatsonic unit) with a bigger screen, I recommend. Also the support is very good as well if you have any issues.

looks very promising and it's only $260 thinking about taking the dive and try it out.

 

One of the other members tested one of those ebay units and it was not compatible with the car, but give it a shot and let us know!

 

I bought one recently from Carlinkit which looks similar to this one. I suggest you don't buy this one I see the same main harness coming out from CAN is not correct. Wasted my time shipping back and waiting for product to arrive. When you ask them they say it's compatible, I still see the one I bought from ebay listed as compatible with IS.

I'm currently messaging the seller, so I will bring up that point about the harness. They are pretty fast with the reply

 

Show them the harness needs to connect to this big connector on the back of the unit.

 

Hey quick question what year IS you have? I think the connectors maybe different for newer years, I 2017 with navigation correct me if am wrong.

 

My car is 2014. Possibly newer cars may have different connectors. Funny thing about these eBay sellers is that they listed all 3rd gen IS are compatible but on their box they shipped out there’s no description of what model yr for the car. I think they designed these units with Asia market units but they don’t know there are many different connectors based on region, or even Mark Levison variations.

 

Update: Beatsonic has now updated the price for the Lexus product to $599 but then called it a sale and it will still start to sell for $499. Also only carplay is being released now and andriod auto will be a separate product released later this year.

You have navigation with joystick style and works fine with this unit? Any difficulty with installation?

 

It's a little disappointing that android will be a separate product. My wife uses android, while i use iphone..

 

Ive been meaning to make a new thread about the system since its not 4x4 system and its over 300 dollars cheaper. So there is a lot of little annoying stuff with a unit like this so if you have an like big questions fire away. But yes the joystick works with the andriod interface but, does not work with apple carplay, the screen is touch screen so its not the worst. The installation was very easy, i found the cables that needed to go to the top of the screen, placed electrical tape around them all and slide them to the top.

Heres some of my biggest annoyances with the system:

-I use bluetooth instead of the carplay audio cause I think it doesnt sound so good through the AUX. The down fall of this is that the navigation apps dont do the directions unless i switch back to AUX.
-The rear camera instead of it being instant there is like a 2-4 second delay
-The system takes over 15 seconds to boot up when first powering on
-I sometimes have to wait until the system is on to connect my phone or else the carplay app wont start up
