Default YOU, On Air Suspension. Comment!

Sup,

Finally ready to Air Bag my car. 2014 3IS RWD RSR Down springs.

I am going for cost efficiency, performance and reliability. It seems to be a no brainier to pick the Airlift 3H management system.

But I still have questions about:

0. Where did you all placed your 3H/3P controller?

1. The size thank? What brand? Is 5-Gallons a perfect size for trunk fitment, unit pressure, lifting speed and overall weight?

2. How many ports from a thank would be the best? Seems like I would need one for the suspension, one for output and one for each compressor. Is this right?

3. How many compressors? Is the VIAIR 444C the best option? What other compressor equipment or accessories would I need? I still want room in my trunk.

4. 1/4” airlines or 3/4” airlines?

5. What Suspension should I get? Seems that Airlift has a front and rear double-bellow air spring with front shocks and rear dampers. Is this the best option for performance, reliability and cost? I live in California and the roads are rough. Do any of you have trouble raising the rear suspension to an adequate height level to not scrape your rear end? My understanding is that rear suspension does not lift enough and the max height still looks slammed. Please comment.

6. Is the installation something doable by me? Does it really require a professional?

Should be ordering soon. Would be nice if you could share your source for best price.

Thank you for reading. All comments are welcome!

0. Where did you all placed your 3H/3P controller? In the arm rest. I would recommend just getting 3P

1. The size thank? What brand? Is 5-Gallons a perfect size for trunk fitment, unit pressure, lifting speed and overall weight?

The tank is part of the 3H/3P system. Get 4-gallon 5 port.

2. How many ports from a thank would be the best? Seems like I would need one for the suspension, one for output and one for each compressor. Is this right?

YOu use 4 ports: Manifold, drain, 1 for each compressor (x2)

3. How many compressors? Is the VIAIR 444C the best option? What other compressor equipment or accessories would I need? I still want room in my trunk.

VAIR 444c is included in the package. I suggest a 2nd compressor + secondary compressor harness + 2 issolator kits

4. 1/4” airlines or 3/8” airlines? definitely 1/4" lines so you can run through the interior.

Get the full Air Lift package. The rear does not get too high, but you will be far from scraping unless you have to back out of severely steep driveway.

6. Is the installation something doable by me? Does it really require a professional?

You can do it if you have installed springs/coil-overs. I can help you. I was putting together a full How-To Guide, but I don't have the time to finish at the moment.

I really like the idea of auto leveling on the 3H kit. So I am more set to this kit instead.

I noticed most use a 5gallon tank. Is it a significant difference compared to the 4 gallons?
What is the function of the isolator kits?

Thank you, I will be needing your help for sure.

I just installed mine last week. I did the 3P system. I bought kuda mount for my controller, fits and sits perfect. I also just did the 4 gallon which is plenty. I didnt do the isolator kit but its still pretty quiet and can't even hear the compressor outside. I did make my own board for it. DM me for questions or ill shoot you my number.

0. Where did you all placed your 3H/3P controller?
I placed it in the empty space right below all the a/c controls. Used a magnet so I can stick it on and off. Also Id just go with 3p tbh. Saves you money. If you wait til the black friday time they have a pretty big sale.

1. The size thank? What brand? Is 5-Gallons a perfect size for trunk fitment, unit pressure, lifting speed and overall weight?
I went with 5 gallon but you will have to make a bracket to raise it in order for it to fit if you want to put it in the back of the trunk.

2. How many ports from a thank would be the best? Seems like I would need one for the suspension, one for output and one for each compressor. Is this right?
Poster above. I also went with 2 water traps and a 3rd water exit at the bottom of the tank.

3. How many compressors? Is the VIAIR 444C the best option? What other compressor equipment or accessories would I need? I still want room in my trunk.
Dual. One is too slow. I got silencers as well.

4. 1/4” airlines or 3/4” airlines?
1/4 for sure. 3/4 airs down too fast, it's kind of scary lol. Also could run into kinking with the lines.

I went with UAS Bags as they give a larger range in height/drop.

6. Is the installation something doable by me? Does it really require a professional?
If you're comfortable taking apart center console/arm rest, good with electrical wiring, drilling holes, taking out seats, experience with suspension I suppose you could.

I don't think too many people use 5 gallon. It won't really fit between the wheel wells.

The isollator kits are larger rubber bushings that support the compressors and reduce vibration transfer to the vehicle

This first board was a test fit. I had to cut another piece that extended the arches a little more. Also you should get a manifold mount from WinterFab and have it powder coated. Air Lift recommends the manifold mounted above the bottom of the tank to further prevent moisture from entering (important in freezing climates).

I would take a look at @specONE thread. Super detailed, and he had an ingenious idea for mounting tank/compressor off the floor to keep access to the spare tire well. He also used the kuda mount for his controller.
