Default 2016 Lexus IS 300 Questions

Hi everyone,

I just made my account yesterday and I am very new to this so please go easy on me. I just bought a 2016 Lexus IS 300 F Sport and it's being delivered in about 2 days! I'm only 18 years old and have been eyeing this car for quite a while. Made the switch to Lexus from BMW after owning a 2007 BMW 328XI which probably spent more time in the shop then with me. Anyways, I wanted to get started working on it asap! The first two things I'm going to do is get the windows slightly tinted as well the RR Racing ECU tune to nearly match the IS350 horsepower.

1. Since the IS300 and IS 350 are nearly identical, when ordering parts can I just order the IS350 option since I noticed on a majority of websites they don't even have an IS300 option. Just wanted to make sure the fitment won't be an issue.

2. Recommendations on a cold air intake? I heard the one from Joe Z is impossible to find and quiets the sound. I would want one that gives off an aggressive tone and isn't too loud. Should I just go with the F Sport one? I also heard Takeda has one but I have no clue which model would fit my car.

3. Recommendations on an exhaust set up? I'm a college student and after buying this car my budget is very limited. I want an axle back that has minimal drone with a nice aggressive, deep sound.

4. I'm not sure if my car comes standard with remote start. If not, is there anyway I can get the remote start installed yet still be able to control it with my original key fob?

If possible, be specific with answers including specific model names & numbers as this all fairly new to me. Thanks so much.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the 'new to you' IS!

1. Yes...unless it is something absolutely specific to a 350...which I can't think what that would possibly be...the two cars are really identical
2. Takeda and the F Sport intake are both great choices and popular. Part Number: TR-2004P-D
3. Exhaust is so subjective to the individual. I have a Tanabe Medallion axle back, and for me it's loud enough without being obnoxious and when you stand on it you can definitely tell it's not the stock exhaust, but still not obnoxious.
4. It doesn't come factory with a remote starter, but here is a solution: https://www.12volt.solutions/product...exus~md_is-300
*** Make sure you read the description and functionality. When it's running under remote start, if you unlock or open a door it shuts off. Some people hate this, some don't care ***

Thanks for all the information! Is there anyway you can post a clip of your exhaust I want to see how it sounds. Also, how's the drone on it?

If I go with the Invidia Q300 axle back, will it fit my awd? Let me know of the part number as well.

Hey, I also have a 2016 IS 300, welcome to the club.

But yeah I am sure you know this by now, but in case... The 350 AWD and 300 AWD have the same engine and the same transmission. So any parts that are drivetrain-related are the same, including exhaust. If that exhaust says it fits an IS 350 AWD, it'll fit yours as well. I am not so familiar with the individual parts, but that would be a way to check.

I mean really the only difference between the 350 and 300 would potentially be the adaptive suspension, if we're talking about F Sport.

Yes body/lip kits, intakes, exhaust, springs, wheels. Coilovers are AWD or RWD specific but you can use IS350 applications if its AWD.

2. Recommendations on a cold air intake? I heard the one from Joe Z is impossible to find and quiets the sound. I would want one that gives off an aggressive tone and isn't too loud. Should I just go with the F Sport one? I also heard Takeda has one but I have no clue which model would fit my car.

Get F SPORT Kit, or just upgrade the filter to TOMS Racing.

F Sport or Tanabe Medalion

4. I'm not sure if my car comes standard with remote start. If not, is there anyway I can get the remote start installed yet still be able to control it with my original key fob?

Does not come standard. Pretty sure a dealer version will use factory remote.

The F Sport intake is a separate item from the intake installed in F Sport cars. I wouldn't say it's more of a cold-air intake than the stock intake though.

Think of the F Sport Intake as an upgrade to the stock intake, but with the same design.
It has and air box, reusable filter, and intake.
It's not a cold air intake.

Congrats man! I was actually in your same shoes just a few months ago (18 and purchased 2016 Lexus IS 300).

1. Fitment will be exactly the same as a 250/300/350 for aero, the only differences between the 250/200t and 300/350 appearance-wise are the size of the brakes where both the front and rear are bigger than the 250/200t. Otherwise the everything on the outside looks the same.

2. Kept my intake stock as RR racing didn't recommend any intake that removed the stock factory airbox although you can probably find someone who has the RR tune + aftermarket CAI...

3. I feel your pain... The college student budget is tight but I was able to purchase a Tsudo Catback which sounded great and paid about $650 which is pretty cheap for a catback. I was in the same shoes as you and didn't wanna get something really loud, just something a little more aggressive but after a while, I wanted something a bit louder (not ricey loud though.). I like my current setup of Tsudo Midpipe + joe-z axleback. If you're determined to stick with the axleback then I would recommend get a invidia q300, I personally felt that going with a tanabe or tsudo axleback, you'll hear it for the first few thousand miles but it goes away. Check facebook marketplace or craigslist to find some used exhausts because you can find great deals there.

4. It probably does but to be sure you could google "lexus vin checker" and put in your vehicles vin number and on the lexus website it will detail all extra options and packages your specific car has!

Enjoy your car man and if you have any questions feel free to DM me!
