Searched the forum but wanting to have a specific thread for the IS300 F Sport (2018). I have now gotten two tickets for no front plate and need to get one mounted. I refuse to drill into the bumper, so wanted to see what everyone else is doing.
I’m torn between a tow hook mount and an alternative grille mount. The price of the hook mount deters me, but I don’t want to scratch my grille up either. What are you doing? Pictures would be great, too!
After having my car over 4 years and then moving to a state that requires a front license plate, I couldn't bring myself to drill into the bumper. I'm not the biggest fan of the off center mounts, so I zip tied a mounting plate to the grill at the lowest point and put it there. (Somebody on here did it first and I liked the way it looked).

Did you buy a generic mount and then zip tie it? Any issues with it moving around or scratching the grille?
I put the zip ties tight to keep it from moving. I had to take the whole thing off last week because the guy in front of me ran over a 2 x 4 and slung it up and it hit me square in the grill.
Luckily, the license plate took the brunt of the blow. Had the plate not been placed where it is, my grille would've been destroyed.
There were no scratches whatsoever from the zip ties or mount.

The Grimmspeed is a great product. Super sturdy, built to last many many years. Really, its not a big cost versus having other systems that bend/break and cause the plate to fall or scratch the car. It's a Lexus, it deserves quality and I'm sure you can find a used one for less.
DOODLEBUG - I wanted to thank you because a few years ago, I did the EXACT same thing as you. Found the same multipurpose bracket at Canadian Tire for 8$ too and did the same thing - I refused to drill a hole in my bumper. It appears that our new government in NB will finally change the law and allow a single plate soon!
LEXUSDM - This is by far the easiest and cheapest option. Some many not like the lower than originally designed mounted location but I think its fine
I requested the dealer install the front license plate when I purchased. I wasn't about to get pulled over for something that stupid. It's really not a big deal. If your going to have a front plate all the time, just install it properly. The toe hook plate does not look good IMO.
