Default 2016 IS300 Weak Heated Elements (seat/steering wheel)?

Hi all,

I've done some searching and only been able to dig up RX situations which don't appear to apply to the IS. I bought my IS300 a bit over a month ago with around 20k on the clock (2016), it's an F-Sport with pretty much everything included. It's been cold here lately and I've used the heated elements and the heated steering wheel seems okay - it gets warm but not really hot. As for the heated seats, these have been really disappointing. I went from my IS to my dad's Ford Expedition and the heated seats were about 5x hotter in his truck, and when the seats are on 1/3 in my IS I don't even really notice they're on while 3/3 is a minor warmth.

Does this sound like a problem which I should take into the dealer to look at? Or, does the IS just have really weak heated seats/steering wheel?

Additionally, my rear defroster seems really weak as well, and doesn't always do a great job keeping the rear screen clear.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

After some more looking specifically in this forum, I found a ton of people with 2014s complaining about weak F-Sport heated seats - is this pretty much just how life is with the F-Sport seats that you don't get very hot?

The heated seats are by the far the weakest of any car I've owned so far.

Yup, I have to agree. My 11’ G37S’s heated seats are much hotter than my 18’ IS’s. Pretty disappointed in that regard.

Damn, that's kind of what I was expecting but figured I would double check. Do you guys have any kind of issue with your rear defroster ever?

I too was incredibly disappointed with the heated steering wheel and seats. It's like they're barely on.

I've only had my car through 1 winter so far but I did not have issues with the rear defrost.

It’s weak for sure. Our 2015 Corolla gets so hot I have to turn it down.
I just set the IS to stay on level 3 at all times instead of cycling through low to high.

Show the findings to a dealer along with the info you received from corporate. See what they can do for you.

What kind of clothes do you guys wear? My 2016's heated seats work pretty well. I can't even leave them on the "low" setting for long.

Heated seats are weak compared to many cars (they are decent on the highest setting but definitely not HOT). I find the steering wheel gets pretty warm (not too different from other cars I've owned). The ventilated seats are almost useless, but most "ventilated" seats are the same. You need cooled seats to actually notice a difference. They are definitely nice to have though vs not having anything at all (anything to help with sweaty baaaallls in the summer is okay with me) :P

I'm usually in my winter jacket and jeans. My bmw gets almost uncomfortably hot at 2 never mind 3. Steering wheel gets a bit warmer as well on bmws. In the Lexus, at 3 it gets warm enough that I'd turn it down after a long drive. But by no means uncomfortable yet.

Your heated seats keep you Burrcold, and in the summer, the seats don't get Burrcold enough.
