I have a aftermarket remote start installed on mine and it sucks because the car shuts off when you open a door; I was told all push to start toyota's were like this... Anyone know if the push lock 3 times remote start stays on?
They are all like this, only the aftermarket remote starts will allow access to the vehicle without shutting off, frustrating as it may be.
I have a 2017 model and it does the same. The remote start using the key fob and pressing lock 3x only works if you have the enform subscription (remote start part) active. As far as I know, both the lexus dealer and enform customer service were not aware the car could be started remotely by using the lock button. I actually found this out through clublexus...
A lot of Push to start vehicles are like this. Many of them shut down when you open the door and do not offer a take over procedure. Probably due to a few reasons...
1. Security of not having someone by your vehicle after its been remote started
2. If the vehicle reads two key at the same time, a lot of vehicles don't like this and will sometimes deprogram the systems (i've seen this a lot in fords)
Just because they shut off does not mean they "suck" they do the intended job that they were supposed to do. Even if you use the oem enform remote start it does the same thing.
