Fix front bumper clip?
Is this a broken clip?
My wife ran over a big rock in the parking lot that pulled down her front bumper, see photos. Any ideas if this can be ghetto fixed? She took to a random bodyshop near by and they quoted her $1100. Im sure if we take it to the dealer, they will ask us to replace the bumper, $2000, so wondering if anyone have experience with lexus bumpers and idea how to fix. the rest of the bumper is fine.

Had the same issue, trust me nothing will work lol I tried zip ties, bondo, everything! I bought a new bumper for 170$ shipped (not oem but almost perfect fitment) and another 150$ for paint. It’s the best way to go honestly

Which aftermarket bumper did you buy? I'm worried because I have the F sport with the ultra white paint. Will another body shop be able to color match that besides the dealer?

I think I got it from Parts Geek. I took it to a privately owned paint shop, they took my paint code and it’s 99% matched. (New paint vs 3 year old paint won’t look exactly the same) but the match is very very good. Or you could go to the dealer, spend probably 500 on the bumper and 500 for paint, I wasn’t down for that haha

there's a trick most body shops do is to create a retainer with either plastic or sheet metal and rivets it to the broken area. I traced out the area that you need to create the flat plastic piece. the gray circles are the rivets you snap to the bumper and just drill out the same exact hole for the 10mm bolt.
for a few bucks. trace the area and cut it with a utility knife

some beer and some time and you're all fixed.
Plastic piece goes on bottom, rivet from the top. bolt the 10mm from the bottom like normal.

that's a pretty ingenious solution. hopefully the op is able to execute it because it will potentially save him/her a lot of time, effort, and money.

It takes some time but definitely beats spending $2k on a new bumper and paint.
