2014 IS F Sport Shifting issue - 2nd to 3rd
Has anyone had an issue with their RWD IS with the 8 speed where it has a delay between 2nd and 3rd? I have had the car for a little while now, and am noticing it more and more, and was wondering if what I'm experiencing is normal.
When at full throttle, the car shifts quickly from 1-2, then as 2nd is hitting redline, there's a slight delay before. It doesn't actually hit redline and hit the rev limiter, and it'll still do it if I shift manually with the paddles, say around 6k RPMS or so. The rest of the gears are sharp and fast...no hesitation or lag at all. I had the dealer look at it, and they said it's normal and that they do it so that the 0-60 is better, only having to shift once before hitting 60, which I don't really buy.
Any input / experience would be much appreciated...thanks guys!

It happens in both full auto mode, and the manual mode where the paddle shift is used to shift from 2nd to 3rd. It is at full throttle, but the other gears shift just fine with full throttle and either an auto or manual shift. Seems like being a full throttle should make it shift fast. Happens in all the modes too - normal or sport / sport +.

That makes perfect sense - I don't see why they would decide to have 2nd to 3rd have a delay, yet all others are spot on with the fast/solid shift. Thanks EZZ! You are also talking about the 8 speed tranny on on IS, correct?
