Default Windshield rock chip

I got a rock chip on my windshield over the weekend I think can be repairable. Should I take it to Safelite for repair which is completely covered by my insurance https://www.safelite.com/windshield-repair ($60 repair) or should I take it to the Lexus dealership during my scheduled maintenance and file a claim later w/ my insurance?

Take a pic if you can. But honestly, if is not cracking it would be tough to fix. (You will still see the spot, after the fill)

If its like a pit/crater on the surface and does not form any webs or legs, those chips are norm. I got 3-4 on my windshield, thought about fixing it, but it will just happen again.

My advice.. save your $60, when the time comes.. REPLACE the entire glass. Ask your insurance if they would cover it.

My dealer does rock chip repairs for free (and I did not buy glass coverage from them). Maybe your dealer does too?

Ouch, now that can be fixed. I'll do it for $60, but check your dealer if they would fix for the free.

For me, I got small pits, like the size of a dot made by a pen. Those don't grow legs or spider webs, so these are okay to leave alone.

But, I'll get the one you got fixed. It might worsen overtime especially with the cold/heat.

I feel your pain man, I've had the16" LX for four month and got the rock chip, it was just a little bigger than the one you got, the safelite fixed for $50, but the crack still there my insurance agree to pay full OEM replacement with is $1798, so I kept the cash and traded my 16" LX for the 17" LX
