Default fixing crack on windshield

well i have little crack on my windshield. it's not a long, just a little circle by a rock. it didnt' grow bigger over the last 2 weeks. i can use insurance and get a new windshield for 100 bucks, but if there is cheaper solution i would go for that first. ideas? the crack isn't all the way to the inside though

I had the same problen except the crack on my windshield began to grow to about 18 inches across after 2-3 weeks or so. Before I brought it into Lexus, I tried using the self-repair liquid to fill in the crack, it did not work whatsoever. I tried 3 times actually and followed the instructions to the "T" and no dice. So I paid my 100 deduct, and went to Lexus directly and paid outta pocket about 900.00 and waited for about 1 month before my insurance gave me my 800.00 back. If you choose to have your insurance co. select someone to fix it for you, I believe all you pay up front is the deductible (they usually have a mobile guy go to you).

Most insurance companies will repair the chip for free if it's repairable. Contact them and ask - they should send a repair guy to you. If it's not repairable, you will need to pay the comprehensive deductable for the windshield replacement.

Yeah, with my insurance co. (Wawanesa) they did my windshield repair for free. As long as it stayed below a certain amount...I think mine was under $200, I won't have to pay my deductible. Safelite Auto Glass (www.safelite.com) did my quarter size crack in just a few mins as well as lifetime warranty on the repair. Keep in mind, this was on day 5 of owning this car. I even got quotes for PPG replacement glass for my IS as well as a quote for the Lexus one...it ranged from $300 for the PPG to $850 for the Lexus glass.
