Alternatively, you can cover the key (even with key case) in aluminium foil completely while washing your car. The foil will block the transmission. This is what I recently do in coin car wash bay as it is quite incovenient to have the doors unlocking and locking during a car wash process.
On extra caution if you plan to do so ------ALWAYS put your key in your pocket rather than in the car as if you press the lock button on the door accidentally and then close the doors while your foil-covered key is inside the car, you will be stuck with a locked car with a aluminium foiled key inside!

Oh, I forgot... If you press and hold the lock button then press the unlock button twice it puts the key into battery saver mode. The key will be in "sleep mode" and won't be sending out any wireless signals out to the car. You can way it back up by clicking the lock button.

The rain has never locked or unlocked the car before, but then again I've never left the key in the car...
