ok i seem to have misplaced my key. Car still starts and when i tried to lock it from the outside, it just beeps. So the key has to be in the car right?

 

Uh oh. lol. Yes the key is most likely in the car somewhere, check all the crevices, especially between seat and center consol. Once I cleaned out my car and found lipsticks, coins, a pen, all kinds of crap down in there.

 

yea i went through the car like 10 times and nothing. OK I have the second key with me and it locks when i lock it with my second key so the lost key should be somewhere else right?

 

Hmm....don't know about that. So if you don't have the second key, then car won't start? That's the only way to be sure if the key is in your car or not. I thought you meant you were doing this already.

 

yea i tried putting the spare far away but yea it started...but theres nowhere else to look. well im going back in to look.

Your key battery is new so it's fairly strong right now, I'd have it at least 10 feet away from the car just to be sure.

If only there were some signal tracer fancy method to track it...or magnets to attract it...worse case bring it to the dealer for them to search it.

 

well after downing a can of energy drink I found it between the center console and the passenger seat. why I couldnt find it before I have no idea, i dont even know how it got there.

 

The crazy thing is I am sure this will be a problem with all these new cars. The mAzda miata key is even smaller for instance.

 

So Lexus didn't put a piece of liner there to catch things when they fall? They have a liner there in the LS 430, it catches stuff all the time

 

guess not, it took me a while of fish it out.
