Default Secondary cat delete emissions

Noticed the Tsudo midpipe (and maybe others just was looking at this one) deletes the secondary cats. Have yet to find a definitive answer on if it will pass inspection. Anyone in D/FW area tried it?

The law says a cat must be present and in good condition, but does it apply to secondary cats as well?

The law talks about catalytic converters and uses "a" cat, but doesn't specify one or both.

While on the same topic and this might be something the OP is looking to do too..

If we were to remove the secondary cats from the factory midpipe, would the sound increase significantly? or not much? I know that removing the resonators makes a HUGE difference in sound but not sure how much of an effect no secondary cats would be.

In the quick searches I've done, there are people on M3 forums that have done this as their only exhaust modification and "people thought it was an aftermarket exhaust" adds volume and some growl

Good to know but I think it might differ from car to car. I have a muffler delete now and LOVE IT but I want it slightly louder now that I have gotten used to it. Not sure how much different our stock midpipe (without the secondary cats) would sound compared to the Tsudo midpipe.

Sub'd to see what you end up doing!

My worry is the ability to pass inspection.

Sounds like you're thinking your way to a full straight-pipe
