I am getting a car next year as a 16 year old, my dad owns a toyota dealership so we have connections with lexus for a first car. i have the option of keeping his 2016 RC350 F Sport, which is fully loaded or get a brand new ultrasonic blue IS300 or IS350... I'm not really sure what to get i live in new jersey with lots of snow so its obviously going to be an all wheel drive model. what should i do? suggestions? i have pics of the RC and IS i would like.

I would go with the RC, trust me I'm only a few years older and I'd go with the RC it's got the looks and the speed. Overall you'd have more fun, I would also recommend the f sport exhaust regardless of which one you get.

 

I'd slap your father and tell him to get you a beat up Civic or Corolla as your first car to learn on

Must be nice! Seriously though, I'd probably go for the RC.. It has a nicer interior in my opinion.

lol we have been practicing around my driveway with it and it seems nice he said i was a good driver and he stays relaxed and is comfortable

his dad owns a toyota dealership not a vw dealership. i'm sure he got the rc for pennies on the dollar -- wouldn't happen with a porsche.

 

If his dad is rich enough to own a Toyota dealership, in sure he's rich enough to buy a Porsche even without a big discount

 

The RC does look nicer... but I chose the 4 door IS since I knew I would be driving around with friends. Really convenient for them to be comfortable while on the way to dinner or movies

Maybe test driving both models would help, I'm sure they drive differently.

-i started off with a corolla at 18 and it was a good learning car. got my 350 fsport at 20 and i prefer it over the RC. I think the 4 doors are more convenient in case you need to carry people around. plus I'm not a fan of the front of the RC for some reason. its too wide, but thats just my opinion. can't go wrong with either vehicle

 

honestly I'm leaning towards the IS like no other just because of friends and family when they come around

 

i have been driving my dads RC around the driveway but thats not past 20 mph and i can't get a good feel yet, but it certainly feels lighter and more on it's feet then his '15 RCF he had... may 2017 is when i have my permit but i don't think i could test drive an IS as a 16 year old
