I thought we only needed to change oil at 10k

Lexus Test Driver
Oil Change Interval is 10k miles or a year, whichever comes first. The maintenance minder goes off every 5k miles though. Be aware that some of the intermediate maintenance at 5k mile intervals is just inspections that Lexus dealers charge a premium for.

$280-320 for the 5K interval service. What a rip off LOL.

Yea I had a free service at 5k and 10k, with the 10k including an oil change. I noticed the next reminder was for 15k which doesn't even include an oil change. It's just for filter change, key fob battery replacements, and other things that were supposed to be done at the 10k. So yea, I think it's fine to wait another 10k before service.

From similar thread:
I wrote this previously about whether the 15k checkup was necessary. Seems relevant:
All the items provided at the so called 15,000 mile service are items that either do not need to be replaced at that point or can be easily done by the owner. I'm not even talking about an oil change, which btw is so basic any self respecting driver of anything should be doing him or herself. But here we're talking about wipers, fob batteries, and cabin filters. Seriously, if the dealership did what it was supposed to do at 5k and 10k, there is nothing that needs to be done to this vehicle at 15k but to drive it. This is made up crap to rip off the lame brained. Move on. The answer is no.

15k is definitely a scam lol. My service guy told me $320 for it, I just laughed and almost slap him. Just buy an F-Sport drop-in air filter and you are good to go as far as the air filter. You never have to replace the filter as long as you inspect it and clean it every now and then. The rest is checking the fluids and changing the cabin filter. All of this can be done in what 30 mins? Save your money and not give to stealership. Even an oil change is very easy to do if you normally do your own oil change. I've always done basic maintenance on my own after the complimentary maintenance period and never had major issues with my cars. There is a maintenance schedule on the car manual and as long as you keep up with it and make sure they are done at the suggested miles, you should have no issues. Some maintenance jobs in the schedule needs to be done by a mechanic if you don't have the experience or want to go through the trouble of diy.
