Twice now I've been driving and there was a few second lull where pressing the gas did nothing. The first time I was passing a car on the right, and the other I was pulling out between two cars to make a left on a busy road. Is there some kind of collision detection system that's causing the loss of acceleration? It's odd that the 2 times it happened I was so close to other vehicles. It's concerning since I needed to pull out quickly the second time and I was stuck for a few seconds without acceleration.

Anyone else experience this?

 

I could be wrong but it looks like you have your radar sensor on.

 

Seriously, doesn't anyone read the manual anymore?

Depending on equipment, you can have PCS and/or ACC. Both will brake the car automatically when they're on.

 

I'm not sure what reading the manual would've accomplished since my car isn't equipped with either feature.

No warning lights or buzzers went on either time, I just couldn't accelerate.

 

when you say it did nothing, do you mean literally no response, or the car just felt really slow and wasn't picking up? Sometimes it doesn't downshift as well as it should, you have to floor it all the way past the floor button. Another reason could be traction control but doesn't sound like the case.

 

Since both times were times when you would be using full acceleration inputs it could be traction control. Do you have and IS350? This would be more likely in that model. Do you notice the traction control light blink yellow at all when giving WOT during these times?

Literally no response from pressing the gas pedal. Honestly it felt like the car just died momentarily. The first one was a while ago so I may remember incorrectly, but I think it was hard to steer as well, as if the power steering stopped too. I remember thinking that the car just died and was pulling over when the gas pedal became responsive again.

I do have an AWD 350 but didn't notice any lights blinking and I didn't hit the gas exceptionally hard in either situation.

I've got a service on Monday, I'll bring it up at the dealership.

 

Well that definitely doesnt sound like traction control as an issue and you mentioning you have AWD makes it even less likely. Losing steering sounds like you lost all power to the vehicle/engine momentarily. This being an intermittent issue it can be a bear to hunt down. I would definitely bring it up to the dealer and hope the issue gets worse so they can find it and get it fixed. Good luck.

no one here will really be able to tell you what the technical root cause is behind what you're experiencing.. as it appears very little to no one has experienced this yet. hope it goes well when you get it serviced..could just be faulty wires.. but like the rest, my guess is only as good as the next girl/guy

 

a few people's batteries have died within 600miles could be a dying battery.

 

Well I started that thread, so I guess it could be the problem. The dead battery only happened to me that one time though.

 

Ensure you can can reliably reproduce the hesitation with the technician in the car, otherwise it can be a lengthy frustrating process and failed expectations.
