This is absolutely correct. I have been using my Galaxy S4 with ZERO issues with my Lexus ES300h for the past 12 months. I was able to play audio, use ALL the apps and get txt messages with no issue.
Last night mine got upgraded to Android 5.1. Since this morning I have started experiencing Bluetooth disconnects. It does not stay connected for more than 1 minute. I have tried this in my garage with the vehicle parked. Deleted my Bluetooth and paired it again. No luck.
I am going to delete the bluetooth profile from my cell phone and test again. Will let you know
Got this working (somewhat). Had to delete my profile from phone and car 2 times before this worked. The trick is to click 'do not ask again' at the contacts/SMS sync options. However, I have lost my SMS notification capabilities. This is the direct result of Android upgrade to 5.1 for my Galaxy S4. I would NOT recommend this update if you had everything currently working.

This is not true. I had the problem with my S2 with Android 4.xxx
As I said in an earlier post, the problem is with the car not being able to handle more than a given number of SMS in its memory. The fix is simple, unpair and disable SMS sync.
