Hey guys so I'm posting to find out what to do here. I'm really not sure how to handle this. I live in NY. And last Wednesday we had a big snow storm so it was also very windy. So Wednesday morning I literally just pulled into the gas station and I hear metal banging, think of an aluminum sign hitting against the wall. Anyway I didn't know where it was coming from and a second later I looked up and the sign was coming straight to my car. It went flat into the front of my car. Initially I only noticed a little scuff on the bumper. After washing the car I noticed a scrape on the chrome around the spindle grill and a lot of scuffs on the spindle grill it's self. Also it broke the license plate bracket.
My question is what do I do? The sign belonged to a farm near my house. Do I tell them about it almost a week after? I do have a witness at the gas station who also saw what happened.
Or do I file a claim with the insurance company? Will my premium go up? I don't think It should because this wasn't a accident it was more of an act of nature I guess. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
My guess is, if you have full coverage for your vehicle you should take this to your insurance and I highly doubt your insurance will go up since this was no car accident, **** just happens.
Ok thanks guys. Hopefully Ill figure this out. I'm thinking it'll be more of a hassle to fix this than anything. I mean it's noticeable to me because I baby the car and it's still so new. I guess I'll have to see what I want to do
If I were to give you $45,000 you would definitely watch over it right? Secure it, put it in a bank, etc. so my question to you is why don't you look at your car the same way? It a $45,000 object that should be babied, secured, treasured. Fix the dent/scratches, even if it costs you a deductible. If not, have fun looking at it and feeling sad every time.
