Lexus ES more fun and faster in a straight line than IS/BMW 3?
This auto broker who's helping me get my new car told me that the Lexus ES is a lot faster and more fun in a straight line acceleration than the BMW 3 or Lexus IS.
What do you guys think about that?

I'm not baiting. To me a $40,000 car is a $40,000 car. I have no idea how fast any of these cars go. I know my friend drives a 800 HP Evo and he thinks all Lexus/BMW are a joke... he said you buy these cars for luxury+a sporty element.
I was simply asking if the dealer is right. Is a Lexus ES faster than a 3 series/IS in a straight line acceleration from 0-80?
Stats seem to say it is.

ES 350 vs. 335i? No way...Acceleration is about torque and the bmw has more of it, and gets it much sooner than the ES. So from a dig it'll pull ahead quite a bit, and by the time the ES shifts, it's too late. My 335i I had before the IS 350 was much quicker in comparison and you could really feel that pull in every gear up to about 5th where it just runs out of it. If it's an ES vs. a 328, then that's more realistic. Nothing really beats forced induction, it's always going to be quicker with the same exact hp and tq numbers as NA due to being able to get to that powerband around 2.5k rpm vs. 5-6k like on the lexus so it will just keep on pulling away.

ES: torque steer, bland turning in high speeds, moderately quick for being a large car (not sure if the new 4es is still bigger than the 4gs, historically the ES was always larger)
IS: small, cramped feel, more of a driver car and quicker than an ES due to RWD
335i: FUn, German so it's going to be a large headache once out of warranty. It's an Old saying but, if it weren't true no one would use it!

motor trend got 0-60 in 6.0 for hte ES350. The V6 in the camry/RX/ES isnt a slouch. 7.1 is 4 banger territory. It will probably beat the 325. The V6 camry gets 5.8 sec, Avalon 6.2 sec, all the same engine and similar chassis.

The ES350 is no slouch, but it's not faster than the IS350 or 335.

I am sorry what is an auto broker not sure if I ever heard that term before.
Also the ES is FWD and is very hard to have it stick to the pavment on launches... I had the ES multiple times for loaners when I took my 2nd gen lemon in for service.
The ES is geared to 55 plus age group in my opinion. Yes it is quick but there is no finesse to the car when your driving it and feel like a boat when taking a sharp turn
