Default Broke two mirror clips during puddle light install

When I pulled the mirror off tonight two of the inside snaps broke off so now the mirror is only held on by the two outside clamps. It seems pretty secure and everything works still. Should I be worried that the mirror will fall off? I can't imagine it just falling off while I'm driving. I feel like it would only fall off if there was some sort of trauma to the mirror. Anyway, it's in my preferred position and I don't plan on moving it unless someone else drives my car which won't happen.

Should I be worried?

Call the dealer and see how much for the new piece. If someone washes it and pushes to hard on that mirror it might break. But then again it might not. It might be just fine with only 2 clips holding it. Or just wait until it breaks to fix it.

I looked up the piece on Sewell and its $500 and then whatever the install charge would be. Pretty steep. Hoping it stays on. Havent had any trouble and ive been driving alot since it happened.

Just take your car in, and say the dealer broke it

I wouldn't worry though, aren't there a total of 5 or 6 clips? Just make sure those are in good

There are four clips so I have half of the hold...I would take it to the dealer but if they saw the LED light i put in then they would realize why the mirror broke

put it back the stock bulbs and bring it back to the dealer.

My guess is it may have broken perhaps due to colder temps. Anyone trying this probably should make sure the plastics are heated up so they are nice and warm and flexible. $500 seems very steep. Are you sure there isn't just the casing part that could be ordered?

This is probably why my dealer said it would take them 2 hours to disassemble the whole side mirror to swap the bulb to LEDs.

Wow, I sure hope that my puddle lights never burnout. Two hours labor to change a puddle light? Also, the clips should be cheap. Sewell quoted 500 bucks for four clips...it seems that you are having to purchase the entire housing. Perhaps your dealer has spare clips on hand that you can purchase. The clips are likely shared across models, and surely they break them on occasion.

Talk to your SA, Shop Manager or salesman. Hopefully, they can sell you a few clips.

The clips are part of the black housing so I don't know if you can just purchase the clips...I think you would just have to replace the housing

what BS on the stealership quote for 2 hours. You can change both puddle lights in under 30 min
