I've experienced an issue with the steering in my 2014 IS since purchasing back in July. When driving at freeway speeds, 70 - 80 MPH, for 10+ minutes, the steering wheel will become "sticky", making slight lane corrections difficult.
I've taken the car to the dealer multiple times, and have been told repeatedly that this is normal and caused by the VGRS option.
I can't believe this is normal. The car feels unsafe at these speeds and is not easy to control.
So PLEASE!! If you have an IS350 F-Sport with the VGRS option, let me know if you have (or have not) experienced this issue! I'm compiling my own list of feedback to present to the dealership and Lexus headquarters to argue my case. Feel free to PM me if you prefer.
steering is suppose to be stiffer so its not so sensitive at high speeds, at low speeds like in the parking lot its more sensitive so you dont need as much steering effort
So far I have not found any faults with this steering and actually think it's the best I've seen on any car. Either you really are having an issue, or maybe you're just not used to the feel of variable steering. Can you please describe the issue in more detail? Like when you're driving in straight line, what exactly happens when you turn the wheel slightly? Does it not respond at all until a certain steering angle is reached? or does it respond but not as sharp/quick as at lower speeds?
