Well, when I'm traveling at high speeds.. like 50mph+ the steering feels firm, and even firmer when I go even faster.
But, when I'm like making a U-turn or just a normal turn, the steering is a lot loose, no firmness.
I thought this was pretty normal in a sense, cause I drive an Audi a4 before, and it has the same feel. It stiffens at high speed, but is very loose at low speeds/making turns..
EDIT: Forgot to mention my other car, a Mazda6. It doesn't have the ability to stiffen or loosen. Driving at all speed the steering feel way looser than any other "luxury" brand

Put it in the sport or sport+ mode, and only judge how 'loose' it is at higher (say > 25 mph) speeds. I don't own one but test drove IS 350 F-sport more than once and was quite impressed with its precise and 'stiff' steering. Compared it with ES350's steering and it was like night and day. This test driving actually convinced me not to buy ES350 (which I originally wanted) and to get IS350 instead.

I think Lexus still wanted that old school feeling at cruising speeds. May have to go with upgraded roll bar.

By the way, what happened to your test drive, you purchased a car you ultimately don't like? It is exactly in the same category as somebody else in another thread bringing the new IS home and realizing it is lacking memory seats, the feature they can't live without. I don't get it.
