Default Build Your IS - Packages Changed?

Did anyone else notice that when you go to build your new IS, it seems that they reduced the number of available packages to two... a nav package and an all inclusive F Sport package...

Is everyone else seeing this or is my browser on the fritz? I don't recall it being this way a few days back ;(

they've changed it many times. Used to have 3, then 4 different ones and sometimes 2. That is why packages are not fully customizable, but rather just like combo1, combo2, comboN depending on the west coast regional person making the decision for that month.

I was under the impression that the types of packages available via the configurator was always dependent on the inventory near the zip code entered. So, if inventory availability is changing for an area, then packages on the site would too.

It's pretty frustrating when the combo you want isn't listed. You really just have to start talking to dealers who can search larger inventories and allocations nationwide or do a custom order.

That's what I thought too, but right now it will only let me configure an F Sport in my zip code, which most definitely does not reflect current inventory. I'm puzzled.

it kinda sucks if you want a basic F sport package and now you have to bundle it with MKL, etc.... which isn't exactly a bad thing but does add that extra couple grand on top.

i think thats why the person configuring these pkgs try to have something for everyone. If you wait a few weeks, i'm sure you'll see a basic FSport pkg with just

FK, NV (non levinson nav) and BSM

Does this mean my car (non Mark Levinson F-Sport) is worth more because you can;t buy it anymore?

Don't you wish. What it means is that although the web is great, you still at times will need to do some additional leg-work. Obviously Lexus has some issues with their internet offering. I'd suggest using cars.com, or something similar to build a car, then let that go to a dealer or two, and have them contact you. Tell them what you want, and make them, as they say, earn your business. Make them tell you if what you want is or isn't available.

Not that you can't buy it anymore but probably will be available in a couple weeks or so...

i think the fully loaded ones are harder to come by since they are usually from custom order only.

Lexus really needs to be able to customize more.
