Default Battery ramdomly dead today?

I woke up today and tried starting my car and all the accessories came on but it would not turn over. I carefully checked and I didnt leave anything on overnight. Very weird.
I jumped it and drove it around for 30 minutes and now it starts like nothing ever happened.

Should I be worried? Take it to dealer? Ignore it?

Did you store your key within a range that the car could pick up? If so, this may have drained the battery.

^ agree.

I was advised by my SA not to leave the fob in the car or near it as having it in range will drain the battery.

really? why did they say that? what would cause the drain, just constant communication w/the key fob?

I asked the same question. Something about the fob and car communicating with each other. When asked why it consumed so much energy, she didn't know.

The chatter must go something like:

FOB: "Hi there. How's it going?"
CAR: "Good. Thanks. How are you doing?"
FOB: "OK. Just checking in."
CAR: "Great."
FOB: "Checking in."
CAR: "Checked."
FOB: "Checkaroni?"
CAR: "Yes."

I noticed a faint, medium-high pitched noise coming from the engine bay when installing new license plate frames with the key fob in my pocket. I could only hear it when I crouched down near the front of the car. It had to have been at least 30 minutes since I turned the car off as well.

Another thing with proximity is the bluetooth system. My fiancee drove my car home one day while I was on the phone, and my phone paired to the car and sound was redirected. I had no idea what was going on until she came in and was confused why a ghost voice was talking in the car.

Soooooo not true. Read page 115 of the 2014 IS 350 owners manual. This applies to my 2007 IS 250 as well, so its not a 2014 thing.

There could be a bad batch of batteries out there. This is the 3rd or 4th post I've seen like this. What is the manufacture date of your car? This is the date on the door jam.

So what is "near"? I park my car in the garage and put my key in a drawer in the house. it's probably less than 20 feet apart through couple walls. Just wondering if this will be an issue for me when I get my car.

I asked her the same question and she said behind a door or wall should be fine. I keep mine in a cabinet behind a door.

My build date is April 2013

I havent had any issues since that day. I really am not sure about the remote thing, as my garage is at least 100 feet away from my house and I know I had both key FOBS with me. If it happens again, I am definitely going to the dealership and getting a new battery.

Anyone else here have this happen?

The sensors should only pick up the key fob signal within about 3 feet of the car.

I keep my keys around 15 feet away and have not yet had any issues.
