My F sport front rims are picking up dirt/oil/whatever else that is in the road too easily!
I can clean it and literally after one short drive, the rims are already dirty. I've never had rims be this dirty so quickly before.
Anyone else getting this?
break in period? When I replaced my G35 with a new pad, for a few weeks it would be dusty as heck. I can spray water on the rims and I could see a puddle of black water.
After a while, I didn't that much dust off the new pads. I'm guessing it's the same situation here?
brake dust just falls right off. keeps my wheels looking fairly clean for a couple of weeks
Yes, it helps the dirt/dust wipe off easier, but still doesn't stop it from accumulating on the wheels. I tried this stuff, wasn't worth the effort of applying it, still have to clean the wheels weekly.
What is the trade off with the different pads that don't create dust?
Pad that dust more means its working a lot harder. Less dust pads means its not as aggressive.
To the OP, if you wax your rims. It'll be a lot easier to remove break dust with a simple spray of a hose. I have opti coat on all my rims and I just spray the dust off with a hose.
Yes, there is a trade off in braking performance. However, if you're a calm driver, you wouldn't need performance pads anyway. I'm guessing that not everyone bought a F sport model for performance, but rather the grille and LFA cluster. :P

Yeah, but those dusty high performance pads can sure make a difference in an emergency stop! I experienced that first hand a couple of times in my BMW 330.
Just wax the wheels like another poster suggested.
