Default 3rd gen engine bay isn't as clean as 2nd gen

What happened to all the covers? Not only looks cleaner, but much easier to clean the 2nd gen bay.

2nd Gen

3rd Gen

It's not just that. I have the second generation but had the third generation as loaner last week and I noticed they cut the cost in many areas. I feel like 2nd gen is better build.

Exactly. This all goes back to the very controversial argument here on the forums and mentioned by a few posters:

The 2IS is better built and is a Luxury Sport Sedan.

The 3IS has been compromised in many areas, but focuses on handling, making it a Sport Luxury Sedan.

Two completely different things.

Never a big fan of huge pieces of plastic cover the engines to make it look nice under the hood. Neither looks good to me. To each their own.

Sounds like a little bit of weight savings to me. How many luxury car buyers really spend that much time under the hood of their car, car enthusiasts not included? I don't see how it makes that much of a difference to the majority of people who buy the car.

Lol, wow, they saved 1 pound. The plastic cover prevents dust buildup and is easier to clean.

Exactly, we don't want to spend thst much time under the hood. Which is why all luxury cars have plactic coverings.

It also looks more refined. The way it is now looks like a 1998 honda civic engine bay.

Speaking of weight saving, the door feels very light. Almost like cardboard. How safe is this car?

The interior LED's, sunglass holder, front and back ashtray were also removed to save weight?

If you don't plan on spending that much time under the hood then why open it in the first place?
