Default Anyone do an "extended test drive"?

All.. I own a 2010 IS350 and I'm kicking tires between an IS350 non F sport, Q50S and ATS 3.6. One of the things i want to do with all 3 cars is take an extended 100 mile or so test drive that has both freeway and twisty bits in the route to compare the cars. The other 2 cars had no problems with this but my Lexus dealer was not at all willing to let me do this with the IS350.

So anyone else taken a longer than average test drive on the IS350??

Nope just did the standard 5 to 10 mile test drive. Drove an IS 250 F sport and a regular IS 350 since the 350 F sports are all gone here.

Liability. Also means the demand for the car is there and they don't need your business that bad. No offense but that's a far distance. Now if you said let me jump on the highway and drive 20-30 min I am sure they wouldn't mind.

Only thing I really noticed was the power was similar to my wife's 4 cylinder Camry. Which was pretty surprising to me.

Back in the late 80's and early 90's car dealers would let you take a car home for the weekend. Which was pretty crazy sounding but it happened to me a couple of times were I wasn't sure I wanted the car / truck or not. Dealer let me take one of their loaners for the weekend. Didn't go on any crazy long trips or anything. But both times I ended up buying a car and a truck from them.

Yes, I am old.

Resale/reliability alone I would count out the ATS (yes I own 3 GM products). The Q looks nothing like a IS so it would be matter of preference at that point.

That being said some dealers will do this for used cars but rarely on new ones.

Buying a car with 100 miles is like buying a used car.

Ha, I remember this as well in the mid-90s! We did it with GM.

Mazda will let you take a new car out for a day. They did it with a CX7. But then again its a Mazda and they have to beg you to buy it.

Some dealers will still do that. I was offered the Jeep for a weekend and the GS for the weekend. Didn't take them up on either because I had already decided to buy them. Typically dealers will do this with a demo, not something off the lot.

Only way I could see this is if you were a long time Lexus owner who has purchased a couple of them from the same dealer. Also Infiniti and Cadillac are probably more desperate for sales than Lexus right now.

I was offered to try the IS over two days. Pick up early day one, and return before closing time day two.
