Last I checked with my dealer, it is not available or they're witholding until the July launch. Wondering if the US folks have the official brochure and if they can scan a few pages!
I have one as well but it is less informative than the website. Here is the page with the options but there are no specifics to what is available with each version. Other than that, it is really just a bunch of the same photos.
gd0t, very detailed brochure and I learned quite a bit on the IS I didn't get from N.American content. It's what I love about Lexus brochures!
Pop Up Hood (PUH) to reduce pedestrian impact
Rear spoiler as an accessory
WiFi hotspot accessory
among others.
I wonder if the PUH is designed in the IS for all markets including N.America? Anyone know?
Actually I emailed Lexus Canada and asked them specifically whether Canadian models are equipped with pop-up hood and self-healing paint (it is standard in 3IS sold in Japan) and they say no.
EDIT: Actually, pop-up hood is standard in 3IS sold in Japan, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, UK, etc.
The pop up hood has intrigued me. Does that mean that the hood opens from near the windscreen? cos thats just plain cool
Yes, it appears to work that way. The UK brochure previously posted suggests that. Additionally, see the picture from a Japanese magazine, called Motofan/ New Model, which dedicates the entire issue on a single car, and in this case, the 2014 Lexus IS.
There would be sensors in the front bumper as well as the additional component in the hood (the black rod with red label in the picture). From the picture, it says, it is the first application in a Lexus vehicle and it is intended to reduce the shock/impact to the heads of pedestrians.
Recall that pop-up hood was available in some Nissan cars before.
Thanks for finding out AndyL. I had a feeling PUH was for other markets and not for us. BTW, my sales rep sent me an email today and said IS brochures have now arrived. I'll drop by next week and scan a few pages.
Hope the implementation is better after years of improvement and lessons learned.
Maybe the reason for having pop-up hood to meet certain requirement according to the above web sites?
There is quote on the links.
"The GT-R has been designed to meet the latest legal and safety standards for all new cars. This innovative pop up bonnet system is required as there is insufficient clearance between the bonnet and the top of the engine to comply with the European directive 70/156/ EEC as amended by 2003/ 102/ EC for pedestrian safety."
Another thing to note is some dealer options offered in Japan have a warning statement. It says it interferes with the operation of the pop-up hood.

The options affected are the LEG fog upgrade in non-F Sport (LEDフォグランプ(イルミネーション付・ホワイト)
and the front corner view camera and monitor (コーナービューカメラ&モニター) because the sensors lie in the surrounding where the options are installed.
