Default Sound upgrade

So i have IS300h 2013 and i think i have 6 speaker system. 2 in dash, 2 front door and 2 rear door. For beginning i was thinking upgrading the two front dash speakers (maybe there is middle speaker too. I can see the grille but havent looked inside). For upgrade i was thinking using these 3,5

JBL Club GEN3 34F

But now i have read somewhere the upgade makes it worse. Anyone have any suggestions?

It won't make it worse as long as you choose good speakers. Are you including an amplifier?

No im not including new amp. Its supposed to be plug and play upgrade for dash speakers as long as i take 4 or 3 ohm speakers.

Make sure the speakers are highly efficient. The OEM amp won't play them loud enough otherwise. That's from what I understand. I replaced all of mine as well. Better sound for sure. Hope all turns out well.

okay.

i also have another question. How hard would it be to install two under seat subs. One for driver seat and other for passenger. Found this https://www.gasaudiopower.com/product/max-asb1-8/ for decent price. Where could i tap in these speakers for input.

Hey strenoob,
Sorry for the late response. Just read your post. "How hard would it be to install subs under the seats?" Great question, it's all going to depend on how large the enclosures are and if you're willing to take the chance on purchasing and giving it a try. You would need to add an amplifier to drive the subs. If you're not familiar with audio installs, I would not recommend unless you're like myself where I enjoy learning new things and taking chances. I truly enjoy the satisfaction of accomplishing something I have never done. It's my zen.

If you're not familiar with installing external subs there are several factors. When adding them, it's not just plug and play.
1. If you have an after-market radio, then it should have an output that you can hook up an amp for the subs.
2. If you have the OEM radio, you'll need to tap a new mono amp after the factory amp to drive the subs.
3. Others have replaced the OEM sub with a shallow sub but the factory amp just doesn't give enough power to make a big difference in sound.

There are tons of threads going over the process if you wanted to give it a try.

Strenoob-
I had one of those for a hot second in a Honda. It was unimpressive. Two would be marginally better I suppose. You probably need to tap into the OEM amp which is in the back passenger side of the trunk under the cubby cover. In order to get signal there, you have to get back there and I would just run a more traditional sub set up. I put an amp in the driver side cubby of the trunk and a low profile sub box that can "flip up" out of the way when I need more room in the back. I have a build thread that shows a pic of the flat 12inch Pioneer box I used. Short of a custom enclosure built into the back corner of the trunk, this was the quickest, cleanest way for me to get bass without taking up a ton of room in the smallish trunk space. link here to the Image.

I agree. Better off spending a little more money even if it’s on buying a used sub and amp that’s good quality. You’re also already going to have to run the wire like a typical set up so… on top of that if you use your seat fan then you’d be blocking the bottom vent but also allowing warm air from the under seat sub to be blown up to your bum 😩

Just seeing this! My sound guy said the stock amp is the biggest limiting factor. Even with superb speakers, you won’t get a full sound experience without also upgrading your amp.

when I had my is 350, I kept the stock speakers and just installed a 12” sub + 750 w amp. Made all the difference.

here’s a bass test:

loved it so much. I took it out when trading in for an IS 500. Will put it in the 500 in a couple weeks

My audio guy said the same thing. After the Sub install and upgrading the three dash speakers, he said spend money on an amp and controller, not new speakers as my next upgrade.
