Default Upgrading stock door speakers

Been searching through a couple peoples build threads but I'm not finding much info. Few questions if anyone could help.

I wanted to upgrade door speakers to something louder/more bass. Not much in the way of 7". I was looking at KFC-X183C or KFC-XP184C. Would they be worth it to upgrade?

Someone suggested baffling and putting sound deadening with stock. Would it make them a lot better?

Would jumping down to a 6.5" speaker be a huge difference in midbass/bass?

Will an 8" speaker fit in the doors?

With an aftermarket amp I will lose steering wheel controls? Any way around it?

I know adding a sub is the way but until then I just want to improve up front.

i don't plan on switching out front door speakers as they sound great already. using crutchfield.com, I'm following a guide on installing rear door speakers instead. you should go from there. I did the 3 dash speakers too, highs and mids sound so crisp

I just ordered JBL Club 3.5 for the dash speakers, excited to try it out.

I did the 3 dash and two rear doors. The front will need custom brackets.

Speaker is bright will be very interested to see how it pairs with your system. I'm running mine via a Morel amp which is known to be mellow the JBL's are excellent with that pairing. Don't judge them right out of the box they need to break in.

Boy do they...

I also think that upgrading the dash speakers disrupts the front stage quite a bit. Really should do all the speakers if you do the dash.

I added the JBL 3.5s yesterday and boy are they good, even out of the box much more engaging in the mids, and clearer in highs. Even gives some better bass up front. I played with the EQ and balance menus and they sound even better when you add a touch more mid and move the balance rearward 1-2 clicks.

Do the factory door speakers actually work? I am pretty disappointed with the sound and looks like there are no real options from crutchfield for the front door other than one that is $400 and has to be modified. The factory dash speakers are terrible and in a terrible location.

I replaced my 4IS stock (none-Mark Levinson) rear door speakers with Alpine S2-S65C.
Mid-range & bass are stronger & clearer.
Good for ppl on tight-budget or taking the incremental steps like me.

Look at the Infinity line of speakers. They are a great bang for buck, and sound better than most of the other speakers out there, in the average budget cost.

did you have to have a custom made bracket for the 8 inch midbass?
