2016 IS350 F Sport AWD
While I was backing out of my garage, the EPS failure warning light illuminated, and wheel hard to turn message appeared on the cluster. I took it to get diagnostics and I got two error codes:
Advance Park Guide- Park Assist and Parking Assist Monitor both showed:
0131 Lost Communication With EPSCM
U0163 Lost Communication with Navigation Control Module.
Are these failed modules or are they wiring issues?
The shop I took it to wanted to change the rack and pinion for only 4K. Ah NO! Any insights you may have as to where I should direct my efforts would be greatly appreciated.

 

Check underneath your battery tray to see if it’s dirty (as well as the plugs on the rack and pinion)

I used tech stream to recalibrate my steering wheel after I messed up when I took it off. My car was just sitting for days because I had an EPS light on.

 

I've had the EPS failure light illuminate/display once and it was when the battery was close to going bad. I'd do a health check on the battery and see if it needs to be replaced.
