Passenger DRL Not Working
Hey Everybody!
I have a 2017 IS 300 F and I recently had my DRL replaced after I noticed that water had accumulated in the light. Unfortunately the light still doesn't work. Would really appreciate any suggestions or recommendations to solving this issue. Im very new to DIY car repairs but figured this might be a good way to get my feet wet.
Thanks again in advance!

Assuming that
- the new DRL unit is not a faulty unit
- all the wirings are connected properly
the next step would be checking the fuse(?).
I read some members here posting about their DRLs failing and I think I read something about the fuse(or whatever it's called) that could be the culprit.

From my experience, I would check the wiring one more time before you take it to a dealership or a mechanic. Have you been involved in an accident where the DRL was a part of the damage?
The reason I ask this is that a few years ago, I was involved in a hit-and-run that destroyed the left part of the front bumper. The wiring for the left DRLwas also damaged. The shop didn't do a thorough job of reconnecting the wires, and the wiring got corroded. When I found out the DRL was not working, I thought the DRL itself went bad, so I bought an aftermarket DRL from HC motion, because the new OEM DRL was over $400. When I installed the aftermarket DRL, the left side was not working, and that's when I found out there was corrosion in the wiring. I removed the corroded part and reconnected the wires, and the DRL worked.

you were right on the money, its the wiring and harness. the harness attached to the headlamp on the right side was damaged by water. all signs are pointing towards a ‘short’ in the electrical wiring. its corroded/ruined! back story: i think i cracked the drl like a year ago and it took on water so whenever that happened it mustve also damage the wiring. is this an easy think to fix/replace for someone with little to no experience? do you have any resources i could use if you don't think its above me lol?

Luckily, mine was easy to fix because the damage was at the middle of the wire. I don't have a soldering machine, so I bought a heat-shrink wire connector from walmart. (https://www.walmart.com/ip/2-pack-Ev...New/5101845687) Totally doable for someone with no experience. Read the instructions on the box and watched some youtube clips to learn how to use it, and the DRLs came alive.
If the corrosion is inside the connector or too close to the connector, you might have to get a new connector with wires from another car. I hope that's not the case..

Youre the best! Doesn't sound too tough tbh. Say the wire is damaged how could I figure how what type of wire I need to replace it? I imagine splicing the wires is easy to do (you cut the two ends and solder them with the connector) and run with it.

To me, you sounded like you've already identified the damaged wire. Is this not the case? Maybe I misunderstood your comment.
Even if you cracked your DRL, and water got in and caused damages, you got a brand new DRL, so any water damages on your old DRL should be eliminated by the new DRL.
I would inspect real closely at the connector that the DRL connects to. See if there is something wrong with that connector.
(And just to be sure your new unit works, try connecting it to the driver side and see if it works.)
