I found an excellent overview of the IS on wikipedia, all years and models.
I learned that the IS came as 2dr, 4dr, convertible, and station wagon! Although the rag top and station wagon didn't seem to come to North America ... :-(
I also learned that the IS platform is/was shared with the GS family.

Definitely not a tarted up Camry.
