The fact that Lexus even manufactured many of the 2023 models without the updated screens is just sad, so I decided to take things into my own hands. I was considering buying the unit from Lexion for a while, but I wasn't too hot on spending $700+ on it. Eventually, I came across a different reseller who was selling it for more reasonable price.

I had not seen these installed in the '21+ models before, so I wanted to share my experience with the device and install. The install is pretty much the same as the pre-facelift 3IS. The only difference is the screen, where you have to slide the back cover up and off. However, as I was putting it back together, I realized that the back cover would not go down all the way. You can see a small gap in the picture below:

After much back and forth with seller, who was very helpful by the way, showed me what the issue was, based on feedback from his other buyers. You'll need to Dremel off the top brace a bit to provide clearance for the cover to go all the way down. I haven't done this yet, but it will apparently fix the gap. I also reported this back to BinaryTek, so he's aware of the issue.

Overall, though, the unit is great. It starts up Android Auto automatically, and it works with touchpad, steering wheel buttons, and microphone. The small exceptions: The Play/Pause buttons don't function, only volume and track seeking. Also, the "tap to click" feature doesn't work with the touchpad; you have to physically push the touchpad to click on things. Small inconveniences, but well worth the entire upgrade. Now my car feels like it was actually made for 2023.

Hey bud, thanks for the review.

Did you have this installed at a shop or by yourself? I want to do the install by myself but the wiring part looks kinda confusing. Do you happen to have any tips on this part? Thanks

I installed it myself. Firstly, I used a teardown video for a wireless Carplay unit, seen here:

Then I used these videos for the pre-facelift version to get an idea of how to plug everything in. Everything is just harnesses, and it's hard to make a mistake, because every connector is unique.

It also comes with some instruction. It's not incredibly clear or detailed, but again, it's difficult to make a mistake.

Hey Oreos, how's the unit working out since install? Can you provide an update?
