well it moves back automatically when i shut the car off and moves to the usual spot when i start it, but I haven't checked the other preset seat buttons...
I've been doing some research on part numbers, because I want to see if there are better and cheaper options to do this. $250 per mirror is a little steep for a gamble on it's functionality and features such as memory, in my opinion.
With that said, I first used Amayama to see if I could source the actuator right from Japan. Unfortunately, neither the actuator nor the entire assembly are available. So I decided to see if the Japanese actuator had a specific part number, separate from the US one. No luck being able to confirm, as I've found ambiguity in overlap. Descriptions say things like "Japan built".
However, I did find out that the same exact style of side view mirrors used on the ES 300 are used on the IS models on the premium model with folding. Can anyone confirm or deny this? If so, I feel like this may be a cheaper way to simply source the components.

Yes the premium ES300 does have power folding mirrors.. but they aren't cheap if you buy state side.. def more than the 300.00 I spent for the pair on the site listed in this thread..Also, I was working on sorting out if its a module that allows for the AUTO power folding or if its actual programming in the computer... I actually went to the dealership today and asked about the module for an ES300 and they are like 435.00 each side, and not returnable if they dont work for me.. So thats not a route I want to go.. The part number they provided me is 8943006090 for the driver sided and 8943006100 for the passenger side.. List price is 501.72 so that was at a discount LOL.... Here is the link of my install located in the IS500 thread... https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...g-mirrors.html

Very interesting. I just did a quick search of a local dealer I use that discounts heavily, and I'm seeing $327 for each module. Still expensive, yes. I wonder if there's options on searching the used market. I will continue to search.
Lucky finding a pair, and an amazing price, though! I was searching on that Japanese site last night, and could only find singles, and each is priced near $250.

The cheapest option is to just buy the motor and add it your current mirrors, you'd have to find the right part for the IS, but it should look like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/134491893507
I'm bringing this one back from the dead, because I've had some time to get through some other mods before I tackle this one.

I looked into this further, and since I'm quite sure that the ES300 uses the same mirrors, I've targeted the motor for that model, which I've found here for $80 each:
However, if I wanted to buy the entire assembly, that option is also available. Unfortunately, the pricing is about the same as buying a JDM one for an IS at $365 each:

Secondly, I looked into your thread, and I thank you for going through this, and I'm wondering if US-based side-view mirrors would alleviate some of the issues with the mirror angles you're having. Nevertheless, I was more interested in determining whether or not the auto-fold function could work, so I cam across some module kits that add this functionality not only to an ES, but also 3IS's. See below:
First things first: I will try ordering one of the motors and window switches, and try to disassemble my stock housing. I will have to wait for that to come in, along with getting some time to install them. To be continued..
OCJACKAL already proved it earlier, as well. I'm simply going even further to see if, 1. this can be done with mirrors off a USDM ES300, as both a solution to the JDM angle of the mirrors, and as a cheaper alternative. Also, in that post, the OP is warning users not to use a module on vehicles that don't support it, but you can see it can be installed on EDM IS3's, as well as USDM ES300's, as shown in the video I provided, because those vehicles originally come with both the foldable mirrors and the switch from the factory.
Although, I do appreciate the detail of how the OP took apart the mirror, because I'll need that, and some extra info regarding the wiring. I'm doing this to a 21+ IS3 (this will also apply to IS500), and most of the components are the same as its predecessor, so I expect a lot of overlap.

Reason: moderator edit: I can barely read this with the color originally chosen. lol
Neither of you listened to a damn thing lol! Use your OEM mirrors and simply swap the motor over, nothing else.
If your ES motor fits, great!
If the base is slightly different, then you just wasted money or you're going to waste time to make it fit.
The DIY I wrote on reddit works for any 2014+ IS, the only variable is which factory switch are you installing with it (auto-fold or not).
Any ways, good luck!
Ah, you're the OP! Ok lol.
Question for you then: You alluded to the modules. Have you considered installing it, considering it does work on models that come with folding mirrors (JDM, EDM)?
I wanted to update my progress on the +'21 models. I have been very busy with other projects, so this one has taken the sideline.
In the meantime, I decided to see if I could at least buy the Multiplex switch, and now it seems to be incredibly hard to find. Even if you find one, many of them go for as much as $150, so I found one on b-parts.com for a decent price. I wasn't confident on the compatibility of the pre-'21 switches working with the current models, so this wasn't simply a matter of finding a switch that looked similar from appearances, and boy did I learn that lesson. B-Parts has a lot of inventory from Europe, so I chose an IS 300H switch. However, the connector is different. The new switch has 22 pins, while the original has 20. Yep, next time I need to do the parts lookup more accurately.
So after a little more investigative work on the part, I noticed that the two previous people who successfully purchased a switch used either part number: 840A0-53030 or 840A0-53040. The part number I carelessly purchased was 84040-53230, where I did not look at the pin layout. When I did a reverse search on the Toyota part catalogs, I specified the '21+ part number to be exact. According to the catalog, the correct number should be 804A0-53020.
Even more interestingly, it appears it also fits the RX models. So I searched one for an RX on Ebay and found one for $50 from Germany, and I was able to count the pins in the pictures provided, so here's to hoping this one works. I'll continue to keep everyone posted. Either that, or before I even come to a solution, the 2025 IS 500 models will have enough crashes and wrecks that they're widely available from scrap yards, considering it's supposed to have power folding mirrors, but I doubt that.
Wanted to post in here since Lex_Giorgio inspired me to add power folding mirrors to my CT200h a little while back with the help fo his videos and posts. I retro fitted power folding mirrors on my 2020 RCF but it was hella expensive. Unfortunately the auto fold doesn't work since that was never an option here in the states for the RC so they never enabled the feature.
Thinking there might be a work around I bought the IS auto fold module. Everything plugs into my RCF minus the window control switch... apparently I have a 20 pin connector and the harness connect that they supply is 22.
Pic off their listing:
Plus looking at pictures of the install here I noticed that ya'lls window control switch has a whole stack of wires in it.... just like my CT... where as my RCF only has about 9 wires... I'm fairly certain the auto fold control is done at the canbus/some module level in the car...:-(
For the life of me I cant find any type of auto fold module for the RC/RCF platform at all.
Isn't it super annoying for something as simple as power folding mirrors lexus doesnt include it on so many model for being a luxury brand....smh

I haven't updated my post, but I plan to work on this soon. If that kit requires 22 pins, then I'm guessing it fits what initially bought. I did end up buying the right one, though. The switch that works with the IS is the same one that fits an RX. Buying them used is a fraction of the cost buying one brand new from a +'25 IS, which is what you see people doing in the IS 500 auto folding mirror thread. That whole conversiln will run you over $1,000 if you do it that way. I'm determined to do it for a fraction of the cost.
The only thing I'm unsure of, and I need to ask Lex, is where the green and blue wires go. Do they got to the wiring harness that comes from the mirror, or do they go elsewhere?
Updating: So I wasn't able to use the ES300 motors and took the path of least resistance by buying the 2025 actuators, thanks to the folks over on the IS500 mirror folding thread. Ended up costing me around $600 total. I was also able to pick up up the right multiplex switch used for about $100 on Ebay. The final piece of the conversation will require a 2025 BCM, but spending $800 for an auto-fold feature is silly, and I don't think there's enough out there in the used market to buy it yet.
So I bought one of the modules being sold by Forten Kingdom, and I believe I bought the same module as you, @nigel821 , as it also has 22 pins. However, I realized the device should still be able to work, even without the correct harness. All it's doing is taking a signal from the door lock to trigger a 12V signal in the mirror switch. In my box, I was even provided the schematic, so I would just have to determine which wires on the 20-pin harness belong to the wires in the schematic below, bridge them, and voila. It won't be as pretty as a single harness solution, but in theory, it should work. The challenge is just determining which wires on my harness correspond to the schematic. That will require some testing.
