Default 2023 IS350 - Window Tint

Recently had my car tinted (about a week ago). The guy did a great job. Limo on rear doors and rear window, 20% on the front doors and a limo brow. A week later I cleaned the windows, and exercised them (put them down and back up again). Tint stayed in place, as expected (gave them a week to cure.) I noticed there is a slight gap on the driver's side front door. I spoke with the guy today. He said it's how the driver's window closes ... That creates the gap. Anyone else experience this? None of the other windows seem to have this issue.

what gap are you talking about? The tiny film not all the way up or the glass? Can you take a picture of the gap you are talking about? I have my 23' IS 350 tinted too, everything on mine seem perfect except the back glass is have one spot line 2 inches long white lines on the tint, and I am afraid have them redone because I dont want to mess up the rear deprost heat lines

Here is a pic. I used a sheet of white paper to better show the gap I am talking about. Best I can do on this gray cloudy day.

I called him this morning (1 week post install), and mentioned the gap on the front left (driver) door. I told him the front right (passenger) door was perfect, but the front left had this gap. He said Toyota/Lexus vehicles have thus issue?? He then said if you move the window manually (hand to glass) after closed ... The gap isn't there. I am thinking .. So, if I put my window down, I need to move my window for the gap to not be seen?? I am suppose to see him on Thursday. I am hoping when we talk, he understands that it should be redone. He knows I know someone with a 2022 is350 looking for tint .... So may be beneficial to redo the 1 door?? Guess we will see.

I know he cuts tint on a plotter (not by hand). I noticed the front left window does pitch slightly forward once fully closed, but would I have never owned a car that had this issue.

The white flecks you is dust on the outside of my glass ... Not trapped between the tint.

oh I see, my tint don't have that gap, I think it is the installer error, you can make them redo the tint for you.

Appreciate the feedback. I have searched online to see if anyone else has experienced this issue, and not 1 report. Just wanted to be fair to all involved. Thanks!

My trusted tint shop refused to re-do the cheapo and poorly installed Lexus dealer tint due to the factory UV coating on the windows.

I wonder if removing the tint will be an issue even on a couple of week's old tint like yours...

I would go to a new shop. I had my22 is350, and now my is500 re tinted after the dealer installed tint. No problems on their end. They didn't even bring anything up that may cause a problem

No gap when I had my 22is350. Is your trim piece bent in that picture also? Hard to tell with the light. Maybe the shop did that also?

don t know anything about what they issue is with a re tint on any car?? I had mine done and don t have the gap. It look almost like your rubber molding is pushed back. I have to have two side windows re done as there is hair/fiber under the tint. shop agreed with no problem and said that doesn t happen often. They are not working in a sealed environment so while I m not happy it s not unreasonable to see this happen every so often.

I hear ya, but think I will be OK. 2 reasons .. 1> The tint hasn't fully cured. It's only been a week with lots of gray rainy skies. 2> I asked him how he removes tint (I live in a state that DMV performs inspections.. And front tint is not allowed.) He uses steam .. No scraping. Appreciate the feedback!

Good eye! I took the pic at an angle. The straight edge of the short tint ... And the back angle of the rubber molding. The gasket is the same on the front passenger door, and the tint is perfect.

And same here ... I have had a lot of cars tinted, and never an issue like this.

The sad part ... The guy who tinted my IS350 .. Tint is literally perfect, except for the 1 door. I can only blame install error as others have said here. Fingers crossed on Thursday ... He removes it, and starts over. Otherwise I will need to find someone who uses Llumar tint lol

No... Lots of visual challenges when I took that pic (gray day, straight edge of the tint, curve of the rubber gasket, etc) holding a flashlight in one hand and my cell in the other.
