@2017FSport Question for you. I am use to guys running tint with razors/hand-cut by eye, 1/8" gap at window's edge, running their squeegees at the weatherstrip like it owed them money, etc. The game has changed over the years. Tint shops running a laptop with CAD files for every year, make, model vehicle. Tint spits out with all the windows pre-cut.
This shop used that setup. Is it possible the plotter used to cut the tint is off (out of spec/calibration), or even the CAD file being off? I would prob rule out the plotter (all the other windows including the brow are clean cut).
Guess I wanted to know if this was just .. He placed it wrong? I just don't understand if the window's edge looks good (to my eye ... The tint follows the edge/window's lines perfectly), and the tint was pre-cut .. How did the tint fall short?? Hope that made sense lol

Yea it did, he simply didn't slide it back into that channel enough to cover. Not a computer or plotter issue, that is 100% the installer's fault. Now sometimes Toyota/Lexus windows kick one way or another when you roll them up, but he should have checked that before he installed it. No system is 100% perfect, but the installer has to make it work. Not saying I haven't made my share of mistakes, but I always fix the problem before I let the customer take their car. If for some reason the customer still isn't happy, we redo it anyway.
I think this may be what @cerbois was talking about. At the top of pg 273 re: cleaning.
I am still not sure, but maybe certain ones have the coatings and some don't? I haven't ran across any IS in the 13 years I have been tinting that had a coating on the windows that couldn't be scraped. I have done a bunch of NX's, my own included, but not one single IS.

THAT is what I wanted to know. Thank you!! I am meeting him today, and wanted to be better prepared/educated. Appreciate it!
Happy to report this is really a good experience, so far. I showed up, he gave a quick look, and said he is going to remove and reinstall. No fuss, no fight.
And I talked to him about the "magical" uv coating that we are all talking about. He doesn't use anything abrasive to remove the tint, and does not use any harsh chemicals. Steam, mild soap and done. I will send final update once he is done, and maybe post a pic.
Are we allowed to give a tint shop a recommendation here? I would like to give credit ... Where credit is due, and maybe help someone here looking for a reputable shop.

All done, and looks great! Highly recommend him to anyone in, or near DE. Setting up an appointment to have my Dad's 2022 IS350 done next, and my wife's Pilot.
CJ's Tint. He is on Instagram cjs_tint!! Check him out!
Glad he fixed it for ya! I have found most people who ask questions and are kind usually get better results than those who start fussing and demanding. We would have fixed that with no problem. Sometimes things get missed, or misplaced, it is best just to redo it with no worries.
Recently had my car tinted (about a week ago). The guy did a great job. Limo on rear doors and rear window, 20% on the front doors and a limo brow. A week later I cleaned the windows, and exercised them (put them down and back up again). Tint stayed in place, as expected (gave them a week to cure.) I noticed there is a slight gap on the driver's side front door. I spoke with the guy today. He said it's how the driver's window closes ... That creates the gap. Anyone else experience this? None of the other windows seem to have this issue.
i have the same problem but since i barely see it , it doesnt bother
Now that I think about it, it seems if I remember correctly the front windows do kick forward ever so slightly on the new IS. But if you slide the tint all the way back into that channel it looks as if it were going to come up short in the front edge, so maybe that's why? They just didn't slide it back far enough. As a tinter I have made that mistake a couple of times, everybody does it. It is how the installer handles it when this arises as to whether or not you are going to be satisfied. Most would redo it, myself included, no problem. But some would probably play it off and tell you the window kicks when you roll it up so make sure YOU shift it back like it should be.

Thanks for your feedback on what you knew went wrong. And yeah, kicking and screaming doesn't get anyone far. I told him I did ask around because I wanted to be fair to everyone involved. He was like ... No problem!

You are absolutely correct! This one kicks forward when closing, and settles back a little when putting the window down. So, I only noticed it with the window closed. Stuff happens!
My tinter just redid a few side windows because of hair/lint spots. He laughed when I asked him about the window coatings. Blew it off and said he done lots and never had an issue.
