The check engine light came on and I scanned codes P0420 and P013A. The scan also referenced bank 1, sensor 2. Is this sensor on the passenger side after the catalytic? Has anyone done this replacement? Do I need to remove the seat and center console?
You're correct, it is on the passenger side after the catalytic convertor. You might be able to access the connector by pulling back the carpet without removing the console box.
It looks like the service manual is $25US for 2 days through an online subscription. Does anyone have access and does it provide step by step instructions to replace O2 sensors? If I need to remove the seat I am not sure if there is a process to follow after disconnecting the negative cable from the battery....or a proper process when disconnecting the battery etc
@MatroushiFor some reason I was thinking the cable would come up under the seat which is why I took the center console apart but that is probably on the drivers side. Not necessary on the passenger side.
There is a O2 sensor on the passenger side exhaust that comes up into the car in the area of the passenger feet. I pulled the carpet back and I see the cable. Does this look correct as per the pictures?
Thanks for the info and images. Is it necessary to pull out the passenger seat? or can the carpet be pulled without removing anything for Bank 1 sensor 2?
Disregard my photo and just pull the carpet back. You may not need to remove any panels to access the plug and where the cable feeds through the floor pan. I think removing the sensor from the exhaust took more effort. I may have tapped the ratchet bar with a hammer to get it loose as I could not get enough leverage under the car.
