Default Still waiting for spare key

I bought my IS350 in the beginning of January. The key was 'supposed ' to be mailed to me in March. Now they say do to the chip shortage I will get a letter in July with authorization to then give to my dealer and they will provide a key. I hate not having a spare. I heard that you can use a digikey from your phone on certain models. Are we part of that group, and how do we set it up? Thanks

I got my IS 500 in February. I was originally told it would be 60 to 90 days, but I then got a letter in the mail saying it would be sometime in the month of July.

I haven't heard anything about a digital key.

BTW, @Lee3333 I am moving this. It is not a Build Thread. Please see the "What is a Build Thread?" thread at the top of this sub-forum.

Digital keys are only on select 2022-2024 NX and 2023 RX and 2023 RZ. Its an option on those vehicles, it is not standard.

Got my 23 ES300h in December, still waiting. Got a 23 IS350 for wife in March, still waiting. At least the ES also came with one of those credit card looking keyless keys, if we lose the IS350 fob we’re screwed.

Lexus is of course continuing to sell as many new cars as they can which further lowers the supply of the Unobtanium used to make the fobs.

Do they offer us a present in exchange, like maybe free oil changes during the duration of the warranty? A $500 gift certificate to use for Lexus accessories or towards a car payment? Free car washes as long as you own the vehicle? Hell no.

My daughter bought a 23 IS350 in January. Same thing as everyone else she was told 4-6 weeks, then got the letter from Lexus that it will be July. Crazy.

I also might add that I'm also waiting for my key glove as well. $25 on my window sticker. No key glove.

I finally got the letter in the mail yesterday. It only took exactly 5 months to get the letter. So I have contacted the dealer about getting the key as they have to order it.

2023 IS350. Got my letter yesterday. Called dealership they had the fobs in stock. Combined the visit with my 5k service and they had me out the door in about two hours.

Hoping to do the 2023 ES300h today.

Not very impressed with how Lexus handled this.

Interesting. I wonder when I'll get my letter. I got the email back in April, and my service advisor mentioned that I'd need to schedule an appointment to have the key programmed once it comes in. Supposedly I would get a "notification" when it was available - now I know to be on the lookout for the letter in the mail, I guess.

For what it is worth my service guy at Westside Lexus said it would take two days to get it. Now I just have to figure what day I want to go on.

Got my 23 IS fob yesterday at dealership, and today I called in to schedule my 23 ES fob. No sir we don’t have that in, you can check back in a couple months if you haven’t heard from us yet. I bought the car in December.

23 ES has a different key fob design than the 23 IS for whatever that’s worth. Apparently it’s worth an 8 month wait or more.

Got my letter yesterday and am bringing car in for the 6k free service on Friday. Also will be seeing how the expensive wheel/tire warranty works. There was something sticking out of the curb that sliced into the side of my front passenger tire. The warranty says it covers road hazards, so hope this is covered. Also noticed that they only repair wheel damage/scrapes 6 times for the 3 year contract.

If you’re in USA discount tire will sell a road hazard warranty for $50 per tire for the S001L Bridgestones that come on the IS350 which is what I got instead of the Lexus package although wheel coverage would be nice for sure. I’ve used discount tire for our cars for like 20 years now and they always repair or replace no questions asked.
