Does anyone know about getting a duplicate fob key made by a reputable locksmith? I don't want to wait months for the second key I was supposed to get.

 

I got my key on Saturday. I now have two.

 

Just got my 2nd key today.

 

And I can't seem to get my dealer on the phone.

 

Go to your Lexus app and check the Health & Alerts section and check for Service Campaign...



I noticed it appeared around the same time I got my letter.

 

I've had that service campaign in my app for at least 3 weeks now. I've gotten no letter in the mail or email.

 

I would call the dealer. The service department needs the code that is in the campaign. I say just get it started now if you can.

 

I finally got an appointment scheduled. Thank goodness the associate in the parts department knew what was going on because the service appointment specialist had no idea and was going to put me down for "NEW KEY" with no other details. Anyway, August 10th, I'll have another key...

 

I was told that I'd get my second key around this time too last time I went in. Kinda miffed that they didn't already have a 2nd key fob when I bought the car since it was a CPO 2021, wonder if the previous owner just didn't turn in the 2nd key or the dealership lost it. Should I be concerned that there's potentially a key fob to my car floating around out there somewhere? Or was the key fob shortage already a thing back in 2021?

Funnily enough, the salesperson I worked with sent me a credit card key so technically I have two keys I guess...

 

This is a different issue. The thread is about recent cars that were delivered brand-new with only one smart key fob.

When I got my 2021, I got two keys as normal. I hadn't heard of this one-key issue until this year.

 

Ah well, I guess somewhere out there there's a second key fob to my car that I don't have. Still impacted by the key fob issue though, since they had to wait for the new batches of key fobs to come in before they could program a second one for me, so hopefully I get contacted soon as well.

 

Gotcha. FWIW, even though my car is part of the "service campaign", I still had to call the dealer and have them order the part for me.

 

Lexus seems to be only issuing one fob with new cars in 2023. Plus, you get an IOY for the second one which I was told will arrive in a few months. Its been a few months for my wife's car and still no second fob.

Just wondering... for those who purchased a Lexus in 2023, how long did it take for you to receive a second fob?
