Hi guys as the head is starting to have issues in my car, has near 200,000 miles so I’m happy enough it made it this far. But was considering doing a engine swap and putting a is250 engine in while I was at it. Just wondering has anyone done it, or what would be required I assume gearbox and diff probable different but as in fitment and general things that would need to be done just said I’d through it out there any help greatly appreciated

I'd venture to guess it's just not worth it.
Engine, transmission, potentially rear diff, all the mounts, ECU, wiring harness, potentially radiator and cooling fans, fuel tank and fuel pump, maybe the lines and all the evap equipment, full exhaust. I could go on....
If it's a manual transmission, I believe the vehicle is completely agnostic of the ECU outside of the neutral start switch and throttle cut from trac. The only "major" hangup I can currently think of would be adapting the fuel system to gasoline, which you can do with OEM parts or with an aftermarket inline pump. IIRC, the high-pressure fuel pump on the *GR engines wants nominal 50PSI supplied to it.
If it's an auto, I'd want to swap in an engine/trans combo that's been mated since the factory. It shouldn't be impossible to find a 3GR-FSE with a transmission attached; you can join the DIY IS300 coolguy club.
