Default Replacement Climate Control options for a 2012 with Nav

In case you missed my previous post, I bought a 2012 IS250 to use as a donor for a project. The car came equipped with Nav and the system works perfectly (climate/audio/nav) it just doesn't physically fit well in to my intended dash layout. I could make it work, but it wouldn't look good.

I've been searching CL for options, and found that some people have been using the Scosche climate controls with an aftermarket radio. Some sources say it can replace the Nav unit, some say it can't. I don't really like this unit as I prefer tactile ***** and buttons, but it would work. I've also seen people use the Tesla-style screen, but those seem to have mixed reviews, and again lack the physical *****, but it would work.

Does anyone know what other options there are for getting working heater controls in a 2012 IS250 when getting rid of the Nav system? One thought I had was to use controls from another 2012 Toyota, but the more I research it, the more I think it won't work (or at least it'll be beyond my abilities). I was hopeful when I saw the connectors on the back of a 2012 Camry or Avalon looked similar to those on my IS250 but when viewing photos of the pigtails coming out of the connector, the wiring seems completely different. It was a bit optimistic to think it could be that easy.

Some other CL post seem to indicate that TechStream might be able to help, but I can't really understand how.

I initially thought the idatalink rr2 might be able to help, but now it looks like it isn't compatible with the is250.

Open to any ideas. My budget is around what I could sell the current system for, which I estimate to be about $800 with the amp and sub.

I want to do the same with a 2010 nav car.

We need to coordinate our efforts.

Since there doesn't seem to be a ready made solution, we will need to build our own bypass system and plug.

How can we get like minded folks into one build thread?

I'm happy to try to brainstorm. With the disclaimer being that as I looked in to this, I think it's beyond my skill level. I've done a lot of similar things with older (1990s) cars, but the level computerization in the IS250 has made me realize that this job is beyond my current skills. Not to say I'm not willing to learn more to try to get it to work, but only to a degree.

There is. Phoenix automotive makes a vertical-screen android-based model.

I meant a ready made nav bypass for HVAC, not a full on replacement screen.

I really think that if we can get both the nav and non- nav wiring charts, we can simply wire past the nav.

Once that is figured out, I will have some connectors 3D printed for ease of connection.

So my subscription to AllData expired, but I had the data for a 2012 IS250 anyway (yours is a 2010), and there may have been differences. Another source of data is https://techinfo.snapon.com/TIS/Register.aspx It'll cost $20 for a 2-day license, but that gets you data on ALL Toyota cars. If you go this route, I'll split it with you $10/$10. But, I'd like to get whatever data exists on other HVAC controls too for that age. For instance, I think other Toyota HVAC systems have a similar chance of working:

2012 Camry
2012 HS200h
2013 Avalon
2012 Avalon
2012 GX 460
2014 CT200h
2011-2013 CT200h
2012 Prius
2012 Corollla

The first two (Camry and HS) are the only ones with an integrated Hazzards switch, so they'd be the most likely to work.
