Need help checking service record
I'm looking to buy a 07 is350 and I'm not very mechanically inclined. If someone could look at this maintenance history from Lexus and tell me if its a go or not I would appreciate it greatly!
I would purchase that car. It was well loved; even paid dealership prices for various different detailings. But besides normal wear and tear parts being replaced AND warranty/recall items being worked on/replaced AND the NAV unit being replaced (sadly, sorta normal), I'd say you have quite a nice gem there.
Going over the service history here, It appears that whoever owned it kept up with the maintenance pretty regularly at least at the beginning. It got frequent oil changes up until 64k. They could have ran out of oil changes on a maintenance plan. The tune up was done at 64k, which is good. It had frequent alignments (which these cars tend to have some camber issues), tires were replaced (but may be needed depending on if the owner had them done elsewhere or not), the cabin and engine air filters were replaced, but may be due based on time. It looks like the recalls have been done, but the service advisor should be able to check for any open recalls that may not have been done yet. The previous owner did complain once about the radio unit not working properly, but the technician wasn't able to duplicate it. That doesn't necessarily mean there's nothing wrong with it, it could be intermittent. I see that a lot at my dealership, especially with with similar issues. you can't diagnose something that you can't see. It looks like they gave him a price for it though, around $2700. I'm unsure why there was a valve spring replacement performed at 32k, unless it was a recall. The document isn't always clear as to what is warranty and what isn't. In general, the only thing I see that hasn't been done would be brake fluid unless it was part of a package that was done. Based on the year of the vehicle I would recommend that if you buy the vehicle, get the coolant flushed, brake fluid flushed, and the differential fluid replaced. check the tires and see if they are fairly new, and make sure that the radio is performing properly. It seems to me that it was fairly well maintained. not a bad purchase. I would check the car fax and see if they started taking the vehicle somewhere else for the oil changes. most places now a days report to car fax .
I'm not really sure on Lexus prices. I work for a Nissan dealership. The price that was given is about what it costs for an audio unit for the newer Nissans. So I wouldn't think that it's a bad price. Those were pretty advanced back then and still hold up today (minus access to apps). Anywhere from $2500 to $3000 is about average. There may be nothing wrong with it too. Unfortunately, you won't really know if there is anything wrong with it until after you purchase it, unless it starts acting up on your pre-sale test drive.
I wouldn't worry about radio or infotainment system. If they go bad, there are plenty of aftermarket options that bring modern tech like Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. I'm hoping mine goes bad so I have an excuse to change it out

The valve spring "fix" was a recall. Mine was done many years ago too.
Regarding the NAV unit, it said that the previous owner paid a whooping $2700 to have it replaced : "SERVICE: NEED NEW TOUCH SCREEN $2650.00 INSTALLED". So I'm assuming that is a non-issue now.
Regarding the mentioning of a CD stuck in the CD player, IF that is still an issue, there are DIY fixed that COULD work to remove the stuck CD. But otherwise, a replacement CD player for the 2IS is rather cheap if sourced used online (eBay for example).
I would say that if the outside/inside of the car reflects the car's maintenance history, then I'd go after it for sure!

Only things that have me worried about this last service history is :
1) the rodent wiring damages
2) the various batteries that the owners went through AND so quickly
Perhaps the two above are related? Maybe the dealership didn't locate all of the rodent wiring harness damages?
