I recently bought Dorman key fob that comes with programmer and wanted to share my experience...
The key that came with it was not compatible with my car even though it said it is sharing the same code as existing key fob. It could be Amazon where I purchased the key had poor inventory management, but anyhow, the key that came with never worked.
So I had to purchase a new key from another source, OE key fob this time. I was originally going to just get it programmed at the dealership, but since I already had Dorman key fob programmer, I gave it a shot at programming the OE key fob. Surprisingly it worked right away. The programming took literally 30 seconds.
If anyone wants to avoid paying the dealership programming fee, it may be worth giving Dorman key fob a try. Their key might work for you and even if they don't, you may be able to program OE key with their progammer.
I saw some guys on FB use this too. The key, pun intended, is to have the correct FOB IC chip match the one they send you. If you open your key there is a number on the upper corner, most of the 06-07 have a 0140 chip, the 08+ might have a different chip. This matters.
But for $100, its worth a shot, even for the programmer tool. Most online key stores will "rent" you one for free if you buy their products. Just leave a deposit and return for refund.
I am going through this exact thing with the Dorman 99389 key. I can't get it to pair with my 2010 ES350. The number on my key circuit board is 3370. Guess I'll send this one back. Anyone have experience with an aftermarket Key that actually works?
I have a 3ed gen Lexus, 08 GS350. I did buy a Dorman FOB on Amazon. It did not look used. It is Dorman model 99389. The programmer worked as directions said. So the Dorman became my main key till..
So the Dorman worked for 20 days. Just one day out of Amazon return date. It stopped working and the Lexus would not unlock not start the car. I found the original remote and it worked fine.
I opened the Dorman 99389 and took the battery out. It is a CR1632 3V. Used a voltmeter to find the voltage at 2.6V. I believe this should be a good voltage. Maybe the frequency is drifting, I don't know.
Some of the auto parts stores can test to see if it transmits but can't tell you for what car or frequency. I may take it to have them check it. I also plan to change the battery and see if that works.
I bought it for my IS250(2006).
1st try: able to go into programming mode as in the manual. However, when i tried to do the 2nd time onwards, it couldn’t enter programming mode anymore.
i noticed from the youtube video, while waiting to enter programming mode, the red led will not be light up. After 10 sec, the red led will lights up and a beep sounded indicating programming mode.
I noticed from my 2nd try onwards, whenever i connect the opd key connector, the red led immediately lights up…no beep sound.
Technical advice from dorman is to return the unit to amazon and request for warranty replacement.
Today, the replacement arrived.
however, this time, the red led not even lights up after i tried several times.
i even tried resetting the Ecu to no avail.
tomorrow will try one last time, and if not, will request for warranty again…
I took delivery with 1 key as well at the beginning of November. Just went for my first service and was told there still aren't any spare keys available to hand out.

My son and I are having this issue also. The first is worked perfectly then tried to use it again and it will not work.
I successfully registered virgin/unlocked OEM key (80$) using AUTEL OBD scan tool (50$). It worked perfectly fine. You need to have at least one working key.
