Default My IS350

Hey all, been a long time lurker and I just wanted to finally chime in and say I’ve been a proud owner of this girl. My road warrior, my daily driver. She has some wear and tear on the front end and she recently got into her first scrap with another road warrior and she came out of it looking like a champ. In the next few months I’m going to give her the vacation she needs. Bring her to the spa to get her looking good again. The wife and I will do a 2 stage paint correction and ceramic coating on her and get her as close too showroom As she can be.

current miles- 302377

Jay

Original engine and transmission? Did you have to rebuild at any point? That's awesome! My record is 220k on a 1995 Corolla LE 5 speed manual. Everything was original and it still ran great when my nephew traded it in for a Prius in 2016 through the cash for clunkers program. He got $8,500 trade in credit for a car I paid $13k for in 95

That's some serious mileage.. curious about the above questions. Any rebuilds? major problems?

Nice knowing if they're taken care of they last a while!!

Hey Guys,

To answer the questions from the previous post, I have a ton of Oil changes and Fluid Changes on the car. No major problems on the engine and transmission. I am the original owner since her birth. I believe I took delivery of her with 3 miles. She was born 2011.
The only things that I have changed are:

Shocks 125k ----> Changed to Ohlins and still run on them with no rebuilds
Spark Plugs changed at regular intervals ---->90k , 180k , 256K
Water Pump ---> at the 200K point
Radiator and hoses ---->200K

Master Cylinder replaced ---->200k
Valve cover leak replaced 256K (had slow leak for about 40k miles, waited to repair when I had the plugs replaced.
Transmission pan replaced because of a transmission plug issue ----->251K
Oil Pan replaced due to plug issue -----> 265K
MAF sensor replaced ----->300K

No other issues. I change the oil every 5-6k, transmission fluid every 50k, differential every 60
Next oil change will replace brake fluid and differential. That's pretty much sums up the car. Been really bullet proof. Car runs really good. Strong.
In regards to brakes and pads, I do a lot of highway miles so I don't really change them that often. I also run Continental Extreme Contact, amazing tires.

Jay

Dang, 33,xxx mi a year, you're doubling my numbers...

You might be interested in RC-F LCA to mitigate some of that tire wear up front. A good investment even for highway use....
Speaking of; how many miles from the DW06?

325k on a 95 Camry V6. Only major repair was R&P leak.
350k on a 89 Sentra. Clutch, Timing chain and gears at 220k mi.

The RC-F LCA is something im going to do. So far my LCA bushings are holding up pretty well with all the mileage. I'm thinking of changing them either this summer or next year summer.
The DW06 1st pair was the Continental tire for Discount Tire. I got 63K on the tires. Pretty insane. I'm notorious for wheel alignments every 6-8 months. I used to use the Michelin Pilot Sports All season and at best got 32k. After going through 4 sets of the Michelins I went with the Continental and have never looked back.

The Ohlins are by far the best mod I have done on the car besides the Continental Tires. I have 175k miles on the Ohlins and they still drive tight. I'll rebuild them the minute they show signs of leaking. Until then, I'm a true believer of these shocks. I know they are way overkill for the daily driving commute, but it always brings a smile when the car responds to tight turns.

^You're like one of two non-ISF owners that I've heard that have them; and of course you both LOVE them!

Quick update to the Lexus. Finally did a 2 stage detail on the car. The wife and I put about 40 hrs of work into her:
  • wash and decon the paint
  • synthetic clayed
  • Stage 1: Sonax Cutmax Compound
  • Lake Country Yellow Pad
  • Stage 2: Xtreme Solutions LVR 404

After the 2 stage paint correction was done. 90-95% paint correction. No Ceramic Coat with this picture.

Ceramic Coat: Kamikaze Zipang

Windshield:
Geon Q2 View

Rims:
Polished with Sonax Perfect Finish
Coated with Gyeon Q2 Rim

Wife really came through helping me out, she did the big panels which allowed me to work on the smaller details of the car.

Interior:
Polished the Center console and all Trim door handles with: Xtreme Solutions LVR 404

Vacuumed and Decon with a mixture of Clear Tide and all purpose cleaner in a spray bottle.
