Lexus Smart Card Key.
I bought a used credit card key a while back, sent it into EzAutoRemote guy to reset it and then tried to program it. When I try to program it with Techstream, the original key is recognized and beeps when I place it near the push start button. When I put the credit card key to the push start button, it doesn't beep and it's not regonized. I bought 5 batteries off of Amazon and tried it with all 5 and including the one that came with the key.
I then thought maybe the guy couldn't reset the key, so I used a seed code and reset everything. The original key paired up fine, but again the card key won't pair.
The FCC ID matches so I don't think there should be a comparability issue there.
I'm going to buy another battery from Skagen and see.
Any ideas as to why the key doesn't beep when touching the push start button? Any way to check if the key is transmitting?

My guess is, it's because my car is a 2006, and I'm betting cars 2008+ won't have a problem with this key. But I've read threads that says it should be the same key.

I'm certainly not the expert but I'm pretty sure it doesn't work that way as anyone with access to a working fob and blank card could steal your car by assigning a *reset card* to your car.
You have to use software and register the key within the available addresses in the ECU. i.e. pair the card to the ECU.

Sorry, I'll edit my first post to be more clear. I'm using Techstream to register the key. Part of the instructions is the key will beep once its recognized by the car to be registered, but going through the steps, the card never beeps, so I'm assuming either the key is broken, or the car doesn't recognize the card. I don't think they key is broken since the eBay guy reset my key and he said there was no problems doing it. Now I'm just trying to see if there are any other reasons why the key doesn't beep when registering

Hello, currently in process of possibly purchasing used IS 350. Dealer has made me aware vehicle has only one wireless transmitter. Would like to confirm if the missing transmitter / FOB, can still be used or not.. Perhaps I should consider purchasing two different wireless transmitters and re-program to vehicle instead? I assume only two transmitters can be programmed to same vehicle at a given time.
Any additional information is greatly appreciated.

Your question has nothing to do with this thread since it deals with smart card keys, but I'll answer your question anyways.
You can have up to 6 keys attached to the car at one time.
Is it a Lexus dealership, or a third party dealership you're buying the car from? If it's a Lexus dealership, you can ask them to check how many keys are attached to the car. If it's only one, then you have no issue. If it's more than one, the missing keys can be used to enter the car. If you have concerns about that, you can ask the Lexus dealership to wipe all the keys, and have them re-program that one key to the car as part of your agreement to purchase the car.
If it is a third party dealership, I suppose they can't check to see how many keys are attached to the car, and you can just bring your car to a Lexus dealership and have them wipe the keys and reprogram your one key. You can do it yourself, but it is more complicated and requires you to buy Techstream, then a seed code, and then clearing everything by yourself.

Trujtru, thank you for reply and providing the additional information regarding keys / wireless transmitters being programmed to a given vehicle. I appreciate your time and doing so.
For reference, would you have link to correct 2nd Gen forum discussion about wireless transmitter issues?
