'm not sure if this is the best place to be asking this question, but I figured it would be worth a shot. Anyways, I have a Lexus ES350 (2008), the one with the remote start key. The little black key fob part of the key fell off of the mechanical key while I was walking around my campus a few days ago, so now all I have is the mechanical key (which I can use to unlock my car.) I need to drive in order to get to classes, etc. but can't figure out how to start my car without the key fob part that fell off of the key. Is it still possible to start my car without the black part of the key fob that fell off the mechanical key?
bummer.. thank you for your help. The person I bought my car from said I could pop off the "Start" button and there'd be a place to put in the key, but I guess that's not true...
Yea that's not possible with Lexus'. You're going to have to get a new fob. Make sure the old fob is erased from the car ECU in the event the lost fob is found and someone on campus goes looking for the car.
