Disappointed in Lexus for not continuing the warranty. My car is 11 years old and the average car on the road is 12 years old and most do not have defective interior parts like this.
Is this problem completely gone from the next gen IS?
Now if I can just get my fuel mileage and power back to normal after clean throttle body, replacing plugs, and pcv valve. I’m down to 16mpg with no Check Engine lights..smdh

I originally called New Orleans but was really unimpressed.. The receptionist came off as inexperienced and actually gave me the number to corporate saying that they may be able to help.. This was a year ago..
This past February the wife and I were “residents” at the women and children’s hospital in Mobile for over 4 weeks due to pregnancy complications. One day I called the dealership and inquired about the airbag recall and brought up my dash situation..I was told to bring it by that afternoon. When I got there the service manager greeted me by name and took some pictures of my dash and door panels (which I wasn’t concerned about). The inspection took all of 5 minutes and was told that I’d get a call when ALL parts came in.
Two weeks go by without hearing anything so I called his direct line but had to leave a msg. Waited another week and tried again with no luck..By this time the wife was out of hospital, but I was still commuting several times a week to visit my newborn son in the NICU. I was getting the impression that I was getting put on the back burner, so on week 4 I went by the dealership omw back home.. He confirmed that everything was in motion but that the parts can take several weeks... A few days later I get the call and schedule drop off appt.
While in the shop, I was put in a loaner for 2 days while all work was performed. In the end, I only paid $80 which was the oil change service I requested. The dealership replaced dash cover, all 4 door panels, replaced airbag, replaced faulty wiper arm nut, detailed my car, and even filled up my tank free of charge. Overall I’m super happy ... but I kinda got the feeling I came off as a nuisance by the lack of communication from the manager and sloppy workmanship.. They must let their “c-techs” or the detail guys do the warranty work..I had to clean my own windshield in service drive because of large black streaks from removing that dash cover( dead center of drivers view),and even had to bring it back for a vent that was missing on passenger side. When I got home I noticed a gouging on some trim pieces, unaligned center console and was obviously forced to fit, mismatched bolts and screws and even 2 10mm bolts rolling around to god knows what.
I have a small collision repair shop and have been in business for 14 years.. Overall I’m thankful for the new dash, but was really unimpressed by the workmanship and experience with office staff..
